Best book I've read in a while, 28 Jan 2006
Now I'm not saying wow because of the punctuation, no. There are many comma and period errors, it lost one star for that. But the story itself is especially engaging. Here's James, just going for what he thinks is an interview for a job and then BAM!!! he's suddenly in a clearing in the middle of a forest. A little creature(who has recurring guest appearances)tells him three things. 1. You can't go home 2. Magic works here 3. Get your sorry butt to the village of Trendle. Then Poof! he's gone. What made me fall in love with this story is the fact that he simply doesn't know why he's there, or even where this village of Trendle may be. Through trial and error he gets there and so begins the adventure. Anyone who loves role-playing games or reads lots of fantasy will love this, for he works through many of the problems he faces by using the experiences he's gained playing with his friends. (What ever happened to Dave anyway?) I'm telling you, you've got to read this book. It's fun, has heart pumping action, and some levity thrown in as well, just about everything you could want. If this is his first book he's ever written, I can't imagine where he'll be five or even ten books down the road. Great job Mr. Pratt!!
