5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding personal reflection and guidance., 3 Feb 2012
A wonderful, succinct personal guide explaining how best to handle disturbed human beings.
With great skill the writer describes what he has learned through years of experience
dealing with such situations. Any reasonable person, on reading this book, cannot fail to
be impressed by the mixture of intelligence, diligence, humanity and compassion with which
Rory has applied his skills in the mental health environment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very satisfying blend of action, examination of the human condition and a dash of culture-clash., 24 Jan 2012
I have been looking forward with anticipation to Mr Christensen's first foray into fiction. Read in only two kindle-sits, I was very impressed by how Loren has balanced the conflicting aspects of action, human relationships and the psychology of conflict. In my opinion he has managed to keep the story in creative area of "The Shield" and "The Wire"....whereas a less skilled writer would have taken the ingredients and veered off into the territory of "Big Trouble in Little China".
Suffice to say, I look forward with pleasure to future creative output of this standard.

4.0 out of 5 stars No chance of detachment when reading....., 26 Sep 2011
I found The Detachment a great read, finding it both imaginative and authoritative. I was involved emotionally by a well-shaped narrative and found myself able to appreciate the fully dimensional characters despite the reasonable paucity of personal background with relation to the main protaganists. A thoroughly satisfying read which skipped by regardless of whether the chapter was action or personal character negotiation.

Happy, satisfied customer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime, 14 Feb 2004
This review is from: Schindler's List (Audio CD)
I am not musically trained, let alone classically trained, but I know when something is right: Van Dyck,V8 Chevy,Laurel & Hardy. This soundtrack fits the film and subject like a glove. The repetition is welcome and not gratuitous. Schindlers List would have worked in the silent era with this soundtrack. Listen carefully and you will notice how much it reminds you of the music from the silent era.Inventive, emotive and human. It works.
