An average ultimatum, 24 Aug 2013
I had read couple of critic reviews when I took up this book, my expectation was certainly not Charles Dickens or Leo Tolstoy, but having read few of Simon Kernick books, I knew what to expect - a gripping thriller. But, Ultimatum has an average story line, which is predictable at the end, Same old threat from bad guys, heroic characters risking their life fighting them, burning building in a megacity, so on and so forth . Ultimatum is certainly a pass time, the story has its moments.Simon's well researched writing, recapitulates the utter disregard of "bad guys" towards the justice system, and how well the they manage to get around it. The book also raises some important questions, about the impact of immigration on the locals. To conclude, I wasn't impressed by the book, but it wasn't a disappointed either.
