5.0 out of 5 stars Very good even for adults, 27 Aug. 2005
This review is from: The Supernaturalist (Paperback)
Firstly let me say i'm not a teenager, but a 32 year old adult. I had heard about the Artimus Fowl series from a friend and saw this by the same author while i was on holiday. I thought i'd give it a try.
Although it wasn't satisfying at the start and took me a short while to get used to the 'universe' that Cosmo lives in, once i had read 40 or so pages i was hooked.
A great book and not just for Children. I'm now going to read the Artemus Fowl books next.
Recommended (and thoroughly deserves the 5 stars)

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 12 Jun. 2005
I nearly made the mistake of buying a nintendo ds instead of this. In fact i ordered a ds from amazons marketplace and the order was luckily cancelled after the seller couldn't provide it with the advertised game.
Well am i glad i didn't buy a ds!!
I imported one of these for a little over what it will cost new in the UK in september. I ordered it with wipeout as i'd seen the game on a friends psp and it looked incredible. I've had the psp for just over a week now and i think it's brilliant. The graphics are really top quality and i can see why people call them ps2 quality. The build, feel and look of the psp are all first rate and i'm not biased at all as i don't have a ps2 but ratheran x box and over the last week i've been playing on the psp rather than Halo2 and grand theft auto san andreas on the xbox. Yes it's THAT good.
I never thought i'd buy a handheld as good as the psp is.
Very, very highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Their second best albumn, 12 Jun. 2005
This review is from: Don't Believe the Truth (Audio CD)
This is a great collection of songs from (in my humble opinion) on of the best rock groups around. I got into Oasis with 'what's the story' and i think this is their second best albumn behind that masterpiece.
The best track on the albumn has to be liam's 'The Importance Of Being Idle'. Absolutely brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 11 Jun. 2005
This review is from: WipEout Pure (PSP) (Video Game)
Before purchasing my psp i borrowed one from a friend of a friend for a few hours. He had about 5 games including lummies and ridge racer, but the game that blew me away in those few hours was wipeout pure. It really is amazing.
I have a psp of my own now and just one game, wipeout. Firstly the graphics are brilliant and up to ps2 standard. The environments are very well designed and i sometimes feel a sense of vertigo when my ship goes over one of the big jumps.
The difficulty curve is perfect for this game as it is challenging but not too hard. I have already unlocked most of the tracks in the game including some of the classic ones.
One big change is the removal of pit lanes. Now if you want to recharge your shield you have to absorb a weopon you pick up rather than firing it.
Compared with wipeout on the PS2 i think this is alot better. I thought that game was too hard and the balance between racing and shooting was wrong. Guess what? i think they've got the balance perfect here.
Over all, this is a first rate game and should help to sell many psp's in this country when it's released!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good, 5 Jun. 2005
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars (Xbox) (Video Game)
Not what i expected. This is a good game to play especially if you have a child of between 5 and 10 years of age.
For more senior gamers, i could see how this could be good for a few hours but then become boring.
Having said that i'm 30+ and enjoying it so far!!

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant, 29 April 2005
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I considered buying this when it was first published a few months ago, but was unsure exactly what it would be like. Therefore i decided to hold off buying it until it was reviewed by other 'amazonians'
James Harper's review told me the book was good but i still did not have a good idea of what was in the book!! I did decide to take a risk and buy it and i'm glad i did since it's first rate.
Firstly i will agree with James Harper that the maps in this book are not as good as the detailed ones in the official book, although they are adequate.
The chapters of this book are...
Basic Combat
Advanced combat
Solo stragegy (rumble pit games)
Team strategy (capture the flag, assault etc)
Multiplayer maps
Level ranking
As you can probably see it covers all areas of the multiplayer game but none for the offline single player. For that you should buy the official piggyback book (which is also very good)
However if, like me, you want to become a better player on xbox live both in single player and team games then this is the book for you.
In the book there are lots of little hints about where to go on the maps and where to avoid, how to play the different team games on different maps and which weopons are best on which maps (no one weapon is suitable on all maps)
As an example of a tip in this book ...' If you have the sword use your other weapon until you are close to an opponent, and then select the sword with Y. The other player will be surprised and you will probably get an easy kill'
See you online sometime????

5.0 out of 5 stars Really, really good. An Halo 2 beater perhaps???, 27 Mar. 2005

Wonderful, simply wonderful. There is so much to do in this game. A story mode that will take at least 6 hours to complete, an arcade mode thats challenging, and the separate challenge mode that's fun to play also. If you have xbox live and you like first person shooters you MUST buy this. The online play is great, with little lag, and the best thing is being able to build your own maps (it's easy!) and share them on x box live. i've already downloaded and played some really great maps. The possibilities are endless here. You could simply get a new map, and therefore a new challenge, every day.
I very strongly recommend this game

This has a few positive reviews from teenagers but i'm not a teenager. I'm a 30 year old teacher who happened to come across this book in an English room at my school. After reading about 15 pages i came home that evening and ordered it from Amazon. The rest of the book is as good as the start and I was very impressed. It didn't take me long to read (only about 230 pages) but i really enjoyed it.
Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars NEARLY as good as se7en, 23 Feb. 2005
The biggest compliment i can pay this film is the one above, namely that it is almost as good as seven. In some respects it is very similar to seven but, although similar, it is different in quite a few respects.
Having been told about this film i did expect it to be very bloodthirsty, which really it is not. Don't misunderstand me, it is bloodthirsty but not in the same league as say Hellraiser. In fact it is about as bloodthirsty as, you guessed it, seven!
Even though i had been told there was a very good twist at the end (and there is one), i did not see it coming and i think that anybody who says they did is most proably lying.
If you want a thrilling film to watch with a really good ending then get this. Highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressed, 19 Feb. 2005
This review is from: Links 2004 (Video Game)
I made the mistake of dismissing this game when it first was released. But after having it recommended i purchased it for a bargain price (£17) and i have to say i'm very impressed. It is like tiger woods in some ways but i think Links plays alot better. A few times on Tiger Woods i got a whole in one simply because the game was being 'nice' to me. Having played Links for a few days i haven't yet got a hole in one. I do know that if/when i get one it will be earned.
The challenges on Links are much better than Tiger and much fairer.
Also the game plays VERY well on xbox live. It is a welcome change from the adrenaline rush that is Halo2.
Overall i'm glad i bought this game. Recommended!
