5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT way to recreate my favourite scene from the film!, 7 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Before we go any further, I'm Robert Evans' WIFE! We share the account, just making that clear as he said he didn't want people thinking he plays with Ariel toys! No, he doesn't, he prefers actions figures!

The first photo on this listing shows two Barbie sized dolls in a boat, this is NOT this set! The other pictures are correct!

The dolls themselves are about Polly Pocket sized, with moulded hair (Ariel has a bow on the back of her hair)and limited articulation, just hips and shoulders, but they sit nicely in the boat. Eric's arms are moulded for holding the boat oars. My one gripe is that Eric's boots are not painted, they are the same blue as his trousers, BUT that can be easily remedied with a coat of acrylic paint.

Ariel's dress top and sleeeves are moulded, but her skirt is fabric, makes it easier for her to sit in the boat. They will both stand up, so can gaze longingly at each other in either sitting or standing position. This recreates one of my favourite scenes from the whole film and the motion of the boat (not to be used in water. Darn, there went Saturday night bath time play!) suggests bobbing up and down on the waves of the lagoon.

There's not much educational value to the toy, but hey. it's Disney, it's pretty and it's a romantic couple, I really don't think it was made to expand your brain. Maybe there's chance for a "talk" about first kisses whilst playing, or the possible dangers of boat riding without life jackets, but it is probably easier to enjoy the moment for what it is, sweet and pretty!

It's a sweet set, with I dare say some fun play time in it for kids, or indeed, people like me, who are old enough to know better and young at heart enough to not care when they spy a cute dolly playset! I highly recommend it, but then again, I still play with dolls at 37, so what do I know?

3.0 out of 5 stars Annoyed about the missing chapter!, 7 Mar. 2011
This review is from: Red Riding Hood (Paperback)
I bought this book as I am eager to see the film and mad about Red Riding hood. No fair, the last chapter is missing! Why not just release the book AFTER the film comes into the cinemas?? Now I have to log onto a website to read the last chapter, and unless I print it out, my book will be forever lacking the end of the story. Very annoyed about this, what a stupid way to market a book! The Tron Legacy novelisation was the same, but at least I saw that in a shop and avoided buying it. This should be mentioned, it is NOT a complete story! VERY stupid! Still looking forward to reading it, but will not even bother to start until I've seen the film and been to the website for my last chapter!!! N Evans

5.0 out of 5 stars A Collection..., 25 Dec. 2010
I second everything that Mr. Malcolm said above...Or below...However we are stacked...Erm...

Just here to add that Discs 4 and 5 (Wembley '92) are from the one-off show in support of the 'Six Of One, Half A Dozen Of The Other' album...Hence Sympathy and I Will Walk on Water...

I know because I was there...

I still have the ticket!...

Don't let anyone tell you this is impossible...

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding...(You see what I did there?)..., 15 April 2009
From what was a surprisingly good film, comes yet another brilliant effort from Mr Rabin. I got dragged to see Race to Witch Mountain with the kids and was settling in for a...Less than thrilling time.

Aaanyways, as soon as Trevor's name popped up so did my interest level. Needless to say the music really did help the film enormously, as every moment on screen was brilliantly underscored by Rabin's - presumably - trademarked drum histrionics/string swells/subtle rawk guitar combo. Every score track on this soundtrack is brilliant. Long or short, they're absolutely perfect. An album to be enjoyed repeatedly, even without seeing the film.

One gripe I have with it though. The two tracks by Brokedown Cadillac as seen during the film are reasonable additions, I quite enjoyed them. But I'm not sure where the "Single from this film"(tm) Emergency by Steve Rushton fits in. Certainly not in keeping with the rest of the music. I personally could have done without it. But that's just me *Shrug*...Tagging these onto the album at the start was a mistake in my opinion. At the end maybe they work better, but then again, that's what the CD programmer is for. :-D ...

Rabin is and always has been brilliant, there's no denying it. This does rate as one of his best soundtracks I think.

Lets hope one day soon he'll give us an album of proper songs to enjoy his singing and guitar playing to the full.

I'm off to Witch Mountain again, I may be sometime...
