I am a 40 year fan of Purple and also a huge Blackmore fan. When this was first released it didn't have the same "sound" as previous Purple records, however, I thought it was a great record (no cds in those days). Side 2 (of the record) has always been one of my favorite "sides" of all my collection. Over the years I have purchased the EMI version and then a greatly improved Japanese copy. This remaster blows the previous 2 away. The remastered disk breaths new life into the album and it finally sounds just like I think it should. Some reviews talk about the remastered CD not being as loud as one would expect. My reply is that the sound is just right and if you want it louder increase the volume on your listening device. As far as the debate over which CD is better, the remaster or the remixed, I think they are both excellent. The remixed disk has the guitar more prominent and it tends to have a "harder" feel to it. Some of the songs run a little longer as there are no fade outs. The remixed disk also breaths new and slightly different life into the music. My preference is the original mix but that is likely because of listening/owning it for 35 years and as I mentioned before it sounds just like I think it should. In the end it doesn't matter what mix you like better because you get both and you can decide for youself. I highly recommend this product.
On an ending note, I would like to see the Deep Purple In Concert 70-72 cds remastered.
