4.0 out of 5 stars The new Lucinda Williams..., 26 Mar. 2008
This review is from: Dawn Kinnard (Audio CD)
If you are a fan of Lucinda Williams, you'll love this CD.

It is uncannily like Lucinda Williams Cd 'World Without Tears'

Dawn Kinnard has been tipped as the next big thing in many quarters, I've no idea what the new, Courtesy Fall album will be like, but this is COUNTRY music.

Mexico is a heartfelt ballad, while pigeon holing artists can be quite infuriating, being comapred to Lucinda Williams and living up to that billing, is qute something else.

4.0 out of 5 stars Older Listeners..., 8 July 2007
This review is from: Sound Of Silver (Audio CD)
Ok, I don't claim to be an huge fan of LCD S. This CD was given to me and I have had it on heavy rotation in the car.
I enjoyed it so much, I bought the 1st album 2cd set.
For me, personally, I think that Sounds of Silver is far more accomplished and musical than it's predecessor
Older listeners, fans of Cabaret Voltaire might want to check outInnocuous and similarly there are some blinding tracks which remind me of A Certain Ratio around the Force era, those being Someone Great and Us v Them.
This album just bounds along, the afore mentioned tracks are all great and the whole Cd makes you feel that you wanna go clubbing.

There are hints of all sorts here even the last track, New York...Hello? Lou Reed in da house?

If you like ACR, Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, 23 Skidoo, buy the upgraded, fresher, 2007 version, you won't be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Head Nodding Beatz & Peices, 5 Aug. 2004
This review is from: Beats 'n' Bobs (Audio CD)
While not really being a fan of House music, this CD may do, what it did for me, help you to appreciate the genre. There are a lot of layered textures of sounds, all of which are pleasurable.
If you have come in from a nights clubbing and are winding down, this could be your tipple, or by the pool in Ibiza, it wouldn't sound out of place either.
Standout vocal contributions are on tracks 2 "Love is here to stay" and track 6 "Time" by chanteuse Niki King, who adds a smokey upbeat Jazz flavour to proceedings.
Track 9 too is a little Jazz influenced but has a super back beat which gives it a house feel and leaves the listener warm and contented.
If you have a little bit of Jazz, a little bit of soul and a little bit of House running thru your veins, then check this out, you won't be disappointed

5.0 out of 5 stars Satta Down and Chillout......, 22 Feb. 2003
This review is from: Satta (Audio CD)
While there are some record labels that claim to have Chillout/downbeat/trip-hop acts on their label, so Stereo Deluxe actually have. Boozoo Bajou are all that you could ask for if you really want that post club chill, there are no poor tracks on this CD, all of them, straight from the fridge, stand-outs are the YMA, Camioux, Night over manaus and under my sensi, if you really have any energi left at the end of a nights action, then Yoruba Road will satisfy as you pour yourself that nightcap before settling down to chill.
There are tablas, loops, dub and unintrusive samples used through this CD which makes it very listenable, If you genuinely love Chillout music you will love this CD I'm sure....

4.0 out of 5 stars Supreme debut CD, 4 Aug. 2002
Ok, How come this CD doesn't feature in all those so called "cool lists" in listmania? Read on....
This is a fantastic debut CD but any standards, there will, of course be the inevitable Morcheeba comparisons, but don't let put you off (let it inspire you!)
While this album would be classed as "downtempo" "chillout" or whatever, it has more of an EDGE than slipping into that genre.
Standout tracks on this CD are "Never the Same" "Golddigger"
the very seductive "Last girl on earth" and a very Republica-esque "Strange Love addiction" an uptempo dance number which would have the most leaden footed clubber grooving as would "You're always the Sun".
I'm sure that if you like Chillout, Downtempo with a little more than just computer driven beats, this will quench your thirst for something good and fresh.....enjoy! I did!
