1.0 out of 5 stars All the negative reviews are justified!!!!!, 8 May 2013
My 2 year contract has just come to an end and I am delighted as I will get a new phone!!! Ive been lumbered with this piece of crap for all this time and the negative reviews are all true..phone freezes, unresponsive touch-screen, phone stops charging, etc.etc. I know the phone is old now and not offered on contract but there are some unsold stock being offered around including amazon..all I can say is DON'T!!! If you tolerate it as long as I have you will be reduced to a wreck!! Some reviewer said it should carry a health warning and theyre right. I will never ever have another sony phone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Collectors Item with slight flaw, 10 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I'm keeping this review as short and direct as possible and singles are reviewed in no particular order. This is a fantastic item, as described comes with all uk releases of the 5 chiswick 7" singles..'I Just Cant be Happy Today' is the 'radio' edit promo version which was passed around to dj's to insure fair radio airplay (this version is available on cd on MGE deluxe edition)and the promo version of 'Sanity Clause' and comes without 'looking at you live' though has it listed on the sleeve as this was how it was packaged to dj's at the time.

'Love Song' as stated in original description has all 4 band members from the original sleeve condensed into one sleeve which has never been available like this before and just for this it makes the boxset a collectors item. 'White Rabbit' was only available on import at the time and the only versions produced in the uk where the white label test pressings, so in this package you get the 2 exact replicas - 'White Rabbit' with blank flip-side, and second disc contains the b-side 'Rabid' and 'Seagulls' and has a blank flip-side and both come in plain black sleeves. You also get 'Smash it Up' and 'History of the World' 7" singles as well, completing the 'Chiswick' era of Damned single releases.

Extras are 4 great photographs of each band member taken from the 4 seperate pic covers of the original release of 1979's 'Love Song' and a 5th photograph is an alternative gravestone pic of 'History of the World', you get a 'Smash it Up' promo sticker original, a postcard of the original flyer of 'I Just Cant Be Happy Today' and a 'Sanity Clause' Xmas card with replica signatures from Dave, Rat and Captain. All in all its a fantastic item..the 7" picture covers are absolutley pristine and you can smell the freshness of the ink when you 1st un-pack them. They all fit snugly in the black box, illustrated with classic Black Album Damned logo in white on top and underneath the box has the singles listings and details. Its a fantastic purchase especially to those who remembered it all at the time like myself.

If theres just one thing that could have made it slighly better, would have been some acknowledgement to Paul Gray (bassist on the 1980 Chiswick releases), instead of a pic of 'History of the World', a pic of him would have made the 5 pics complete..all 5 members spanning the era and also the 'Sanity Clause' xmas card could have included his signature as well seeing he performed on the song. Saying that, it might just be me, I don't think ive ever purchased a complete box set without some flaw or missing item on it, so all in all this is a 'must buy' for the Damned collector.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth completing your SLF collection with but thats all, 22 Sept. 2012
This review is from: Now Then ... (Audio CD)
After eagerly waiting for its release 30 years ago and seeing them on the same tour, 30 years on I still find it a disappointing album, no its not really grew on me after all this time and apart from 'Bits Of Kids', 'Is That What You Fought The War For' which are excellent and are good as any of their classic anthems, its a pretty lame album. I knew deep down when this album came out that the 'end was nigh' for the band and I was not one least bit surprised in early '83 when I saw the headlines 'Little Fingers Stiff' in one of the music tabloids. Maybe the cd's worth buying for the inclusion of the 'Listen' e.p., 4 excellent tracks that saw SLF reach their peak (at the time), even in them songs tho, theres a sense of sadness in there, maybe I knew at the time the band where coming close to the end. If your buying the album to complete the collection then go ahead and buy it..if its out of curiousity, then go for the fantastic 'Go For It' that sees the band at its creative best, or the excellent 'Imflammable Material' or 'Nobody's Heroes' that sees the band at their 'punkest'

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Great Find To Me The Creepshow Are!!!, 23 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've only recently heard this band since finding them on the bill at the coming UK 'Rebellion' festival, so I youtubed them and was intrigued enough to buy this album. All I can say is its an absolute gem, frantic, fast and fun, great catchy songs, the whole album uplifts me and makes a 47 year old a very happy chappy indeed. Songs like 'Zombies Ate her Brain' and 'Creatures Of The Night' just make you want to get up and dance...the pace slows down considerably for 'The Garden' but what a beautiful song it is. A great album and what a great find to me The Creepshow are!!! Can't wait to see them!! The bonus DVD is great too, with singer/guitarist Jen Blackwoods sister, Sarah, stepping permanently into her shoes and doing a fantastic job- most of the songs on this dvd are from this album too, with a great version of The Ramones 'Pet Semetary' covered and 'Run For Your Life' which is the title and song of their second album. If you like rockabilly, punk, horror-punk, psychobilly - then this is a great mix of them all...I'm very hard to please these days, but this album has passed my test - just buy it - you won't be dissapointed!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Restaurant Style But Better Than 'the Curry Secret', 31 Jan. 2011
I bought this book years ago, not long after the overrated 'curry secret' book. Remember, this is 'the indian housewives' curry book and not a restaurant styled one, and it comes as a blessing that there are no pictures in this book, because how many times have you looked through an indian cookbook and been put off making a dish because the photo doesn't resemble the restaurant style? This book is jam-packed with tasty recipes! Over the years I have made loads of the dishes and still turn to it to this day (this is my 3rd copy, my others have worn out through use!). Most of the meals are quick to prepare, no time consuming 'curry sauce base' here, just good old 'finely chopped onions', but my results have been great. This is an 'unrestricted' book with recipes for pork and beef, as well as lamb, chicken and fish - the 'dry lambchop bhuna' is divine and so are the 'madras butter beef curry', 'tandoori pork ribs', 'meat samosas', 'onion bajis' plus quick pickles and chutneys, mince dishes, breads, biriyanis, kebabs, side dishes and desserts (i'm not a dessert person so never tried these). You honestly can't beat this book for the price- even if you are into restaurant style cooking - which i am (you can turn to this quickly if you are out of 'curry base'). In my opinion this is up there with the cream of indian cookery books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Release But Missing 'Stretcher Case' 45 Single, 5 Sept. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is what I thought was the complete collection of the boy's recorded output from their 76-77 era. After a few plays and reading the book that comes with it (great, by the way), I had a feeling that something wasn't quite right-and then it dawned on me. For some reason, the 'superior to the album' 7" version of Stretcher Case is not on it, even though the b-side 'Sick of Being Sick' has been included in this version and 2 other versions - Peel session and 'BBC In Concert' recording. The only reason I can think this has happened is maybe it has something to do with disc space. I would much preferred if maybe the John Peel session version had been omitted instead or maybe another song -any of the 3 muffled demo's that kick off side one! Putting this major (minor?)gripe aside, it is a great- but not quite complete- package of their early work and i'm still glad I bought it and at a great price too, but to any perfectionists out there, then this release has a serious flaw.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Genuine Slice Of Real Classic Punk!!!!!, 5 Oct. 2008
This album is as iconic as the band that recorded it. A true punk classic - it is music from the streets - music from the gutter -this is what real punk was, totally no frills music and image. No fancy production and wardrobe like other bands of the time, this group where real and the album reflects this. All the songs are blistering corkers, apart from 'i wanna be your boyfriend', which ive always thought was a bit soppy and poppy, but over the years it has grew on me and is to me an essential track on the album. Songs like 'i dont wanna walk around with you' and the way it fuses into the ending track 'today your love tomorrow the world' is pure class. 'Now i wanna sniff some glue', 'judy is a punk' and especially '53rd and 3rd' still send tingles down my spine. I'm in my 40's now, and this is one of my all time favourite desert island discs. If you want a piece of real punk rock history- then this is it!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Just Acid Eaters Re-packaged!!!, 4 Oct. 2008
This review is from: The Ramones (Audio CD)
This album is the 1993 album 'Acid Eaters' with the tracks compiled in a different order. I cannot understand why it has been released in this way. The cover shows prior 1977 ramones with Dee Dee and Tommy and they where long gone when this album was originally released years later. It has been made to appear like some rare early album to the novice. Not a better ramones album anyway, this deserves 3 stars in its original form, but I had to give it 1 star in this format. If you are looking for early stuff then buy 'ramones' or 'rocket to russia' If not, then buy Acid Eaters but steer clear of this rip-off!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!!! Now Roll On 'The Black Album 25th', 29 April 2005
Cannot improve on an already superb album, but the extras are welcome- would of been appreciated if it would of included the almost mythical "Don't Trouble Trouble" which does exist and was recorded at the same time. I hope they do a 'Black Album' 25th with the live tracks (Shepperton) which where originally included.
