5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book on the crisis. Be warned, will make you angry!, 22 Nov 2011
This is a clear and brilliantly explained account of the crisis. Be warned that it will make you angry, especially the realisation that nothing as changed. All in all, highly recommended!

2.0 out of 5 stars Long And Disappointing, 17 Sep 2011
This review is from: The Constant Gardener (Paperback)
English to an inaccurate degree with the english empire and english coins. Reading like a diplomatic Mills And Boon with a Country Life magazine's worth of product places. Apart from Dr Martens, they would be too common.

This is a cliched and pompous novel. It's a best seller on the back of the movie and the big name's past glories. Life is short and this is long and tedious. Many's a better read out there.

The Forgotten Highlander: My Incredible Story of Survival During the War in the Far East
by Alistair Urquhart
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome story, 9 Feb 2011
I was a bit sceptical at the outset with this book due to the basic style of the writing. However, chapter by chapter I became hooked. Don't be fooled by the straightforward english. This is an awesome story. Highly recommended!

Stasiland: Stories from Behind the Berlin Wall
Stasiland: Stories from Behind the Berlin Wall
by Anna Funder
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, almost great., 18 Jun 2009
This is a good book. In parts fascinating, in others deeply moving. It is almost a great book but for the patronizing tone that judges everyone the author meets. I didn't notice it so much at first but later it becomes pervasive. But the author gets what she wants and thanks to the people kind enough to share their story with her, we get what we want; a fascinating insight into part of Europe so recently just behind the Iron Curtain.

The Great War for Civilisation: The Conquest of the Middle East
The Great War for Civilisation: The Conquest of the Middle East
by Robert Fisk

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome and terrible, 14 Feb 2009
This is a War And War broad sweep of recent middle eastern history. It's fact not fiction, and all the more terrible for it. Fisk tells the truth, and for many the truth hurts. From the cynical men in offices far away to the bleeding sons and daughters on the receiving end, Fisk vividly recounts his personal experiences. Awesome, and deeply disturbing. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

1.0 out of 5 stars Won't last long, 31 Jan 2009
This product works well enough and the wine tastes better for it. The problem is that the unit is just not secure enough against moisture. Either drops of wine you haven't caught, or moisture from a cloth as you wipe it clean. Any liquid will seep in. Mine lasted a few months before the battery contacts had corroded enough to render it useless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality, 8 Jun 2008
I decided on this one after reading some slightly negative reviews of other products. Not wishing to buy an item and immediately have to modify it, I took the plunge and splashed on the Proporta.

Have had it for a few days now, and it really is a quality case. Quite stylish yet understated. Easy to flip open and make calls. The screen is protected by a hard metal plate inside the leather. You could definitely drop your phone a lot with this case and it would be completed protected.

To to summarise, if you are prepared to pay the extra for the quality, I'd go for this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless!, 22 April 2008
I bought this lovely looking pourer the other day on sale at John Lewis. No wonder they were trying to get rid of them. It's useless! Yes, it does stop drops coming out the end of the bottle. But, as soon as you place the bottle down, drips come out the bottom of the pourer completely rendering the item a total waste of time. No matter how much you push down the stopper, that's what happens. Perhaps Bar Craft should try out their items a little at home before manufacturing them and putting them in the shops!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great first Spring book, 11 Feb 2008
This review is from: Spring In Action (Paperback)
I originally started with Java Development With The Spring Framework by Johnson, etc. However, I found that although very comprehensive, the book launched into a lot of detail very early on. It seemed to assume that the reader is already a Spring user. So, I switched to the other book on my shelf, Spring In Action. I found it to be a much better introduction. It has a relaxed style that's fun to read. Overall, highly recommended.
