5.0 out of 5 stars Her best album of all, 23 Oct 2004
This review is from: Celine Dion (Audio CD)
Perhaps unexpectedly, this eponymous album is the most heartfelt of Celine Dion's. Despite her megastar success in the second half of the 1990s, this, her second album in English, is a showcase of her raw talent as the songwriting is less commercial and slick compared to later releases. Four songs have notably more strength than the rest, being 'Show Some Emotion', 'Beauty and the Beast', 'Halfway To Heaven' and the most remarkable of all, 'Nothing Broken But My Heart'. The latter is the most powerful ballad on the album, which is altogether more consistent than late 1990s releases, eg. 'Falling Into You'. The whole album has an almost 1980s feel about it, it takes getting used to but definitely stands the test of time. Listen and think of bubble perms, legwarmers and appreciate the sheer strength of this fantastic woman's voice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Her greatest hits of the 1990s, 23 Oct 2004
'All The Way...A Decade of Song' is an album any ballad fan could buy and appreciate. It lists all of Celine's classic top 10 hits such as 'My Heart Will Go On' and 'The Power of Love' plus her more recent releases and some non-released gems such as 'Then You Look at Me' from the Robin Williams movie 'Bicentennial Man' and 'All The Way', with Frank Sinatra (oh, the magic of studio technology!). The album is Celine at her commercial best, buy and be in awe of how many stars she has worked with and how wide her vocal range is yet look to her very early albums such as 'Celine Dion' for her true, unique, spark.
Of all her albums, 'All The Way' is one which I constantly play if I can't decide between them all! It has a bit of everything! Buy it!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bursting with singles!, 23 Oct 2004
This review is from: Falling Into You (Audio CD)
Celine's fourth English-spoken album is packed with trademark singles such as 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now' and 'Because You Loved Me' but, apart from the atmospheric 'Call The Man', there are no other epics here as on earlier albums. The album is typical of the early 1990s' pop music style: upbeat songs have a very commercial edge which makes for easy listening but this is no showcase for songwriting!! Nevertheless, 'Falling Into You' has some fantastic tracks which showcase Dion's glorious range, for example her gutsy version of 'Natural Woman'. She may not outdo the original versions but she definitely gives them a run for their money! Buy this album just for the singles alone, they are worth listening to endlessly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Celine, 23 Oct 2004
This review is from: Miracle (Audio CD)
Celine Dion has one of the most uplifting yet gentle voices of the 'Divas' and this new album is a tender, soothing compilation of some timeless classics such as 'What a Wonderful World' plus some re-releases, such as 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face', which has featured on 'A New Day' and 'A Decade of Song'. The title track, 'Miracle' is a return to her original style, that of the era of 'The Power of Love' and 'Think Twice' and, refreshingly, the album is free of any overly up-tempo tracks or collaborations - Dion's voice alone is enough and the simplicity of the song choices here makes best of its range. It's an album to have on in the background, to snuggle up with, to get nostalgic about good times and to sing along to!
