Great album, challenging, difficult at times, as with them all. Always rewarded.

Classics everywhere Sir William Wray, Hitite Man, Victrola Time, Irish, the fabulous Jetplane and rocks out with Loadstones - pre-mdma years is a great addled ramble - MES is on top form - growls, psssts, tsssssts, teeth falling out, gold medal standard wheezing and a landmark cough along the way.

Fingers crossed I get a chance to see them tour it, 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh My God, 14 Feb 2011

managed to listen to this streamed last week and now this morning. Absolutely fabulous, wasn't a great fan of the White Chalk cd (no idea why i had to mention that!!), however this is certainly more accessible but as usual far from commercial. Track 5 an early stand-out but it is a fairly seamless album.

5.0 out of 5 stars a much maligned group, a classic nonetheless, 23 Jan 2011
This review is from: That's Life (Audio CD)
it's a shame with all the negativity (and as i recall the loathesome 'Sham Army' at the time)about Sham. This really is a great album of its time ('78). for some reason they got tagged as a bit of a novelty band but this really is great 'concept' album. Basically a young man getting up late for work, losing his job, betting his pay off on the horses, WINNING, then out nightclubbing on the pull, then all downhill but gets home in the end. Choc full of top tunes, recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars great album but,,,,,, 23 Jan 2011
This review is from: One Eyed Jacks (Audio CD)
anyone who knows this fabulous band have been let down by the reissues of their first three sensational albums - i am listening to this at the mo on ipod and without doubt it is better than the 2 cd version we were all mugged off with a few years ago...while this sounds heaps better, this still isn't remastered as i'd hoped. the bonus tracks are a waste of time, i can hear the dreaded record needle on a few. possibly it is me hearing things after the paranoia of the last effort in releasing this. the album itself is acceptable though but by no means perfect i'm afraid to say. 5 stars because it's the best album of all time

1.0 out of 5 stars what's gone wrong, 19 Sep 2009
10 was an epic of classic rock - sad to say, however a great singer Eddie is, the direction they have slowly but surely moved in since then has culminated in this unrewarding offering. my enthusiasm is waning - still a great live act, avoid

5.0 out of 5 stars i'm 14 years old again, 20 May 2009
We have a classic in our midst - a truly outstanding piece of work. This album starts with a Stranglers WaltzInBlack type of intro and kicks straight in to We Are London - cue smile - Sugar and Spice is a lovely tale of young love , then it is great song after great song until we get to the absolute treat that is Clerkenwell Polka and then just when you think it can't get better - the 10minute opus that is the title track blows your mind away. The title track is almost a whole album in its self! If you want to feel very, very happy, i'd buy this album if i was you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Back To The Dreamhouse, 27 Sep 2007

i felt that Into a Swan had an air of juJu about it and was excited at the arrival of this cd. whilst it is not quite as sinister or menacing as that opus, this still has an early 80s feel to it. having listened to it a few times now, i feel it harks back more in style to AKITD. although DroneZone hasn't quite clicked with me (as yet) there are some really good songs such as About to Happen, Here Comes That Day, Loveless and most notably Sea of Tranquility. although i'm biased being a huge fan, i think its great
