5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource, 26 Dec 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Sections are very clearly laid out, with excellent use of colours and boxes showing learning objectives, tips, examples and questions.

The integrated online and interactive text is accessible but may have already been used if not purchased new.

As always with this series of books, this is exceptionally well presented and user friendly for students or if you have an interest that needs this good support, without the exams! As someone who did little science at school - and that a long time ago - I found this resource refreshingly helpful.

Highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant stand, 6 Dec 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great little stand and does exactly what it should with no frills. It simply opens out on a hinged back, as clearly shown in the image. It is light and portable but sturdy enough for you to trust your precious instrument to it!

The guitar is easy to extract without knocking it about. I cannot fault it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good collection - needs slight editing, 6 Dec 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This an excellent collection of generally well known carols. The words and chords are clearly laid out and although it is not spiral bound the book is fairly easy to keep open at each selection.

There are however too many chords at some points e.g. the Gloria in Ding Dong Merrily..where very syllable is chorded! The solution is of course to simply take out a few chords - and this applies to others. Also not sure where they got the words to Ding Dong because they are not the ones I know.

Conclusion: a worthy little collection, clearly laid out but needs a bit of editing re the chords. Largely this just needs a run through with your guitar and a bit of pencil work! Good value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb single disc compilation, 21 Nov 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you are looking for a good GR compilation, then go no further because for me, this is the one to have if you want a great overview of his work from Humblebums days. Yes, that was the name of the group he formed in the late 60s with Billy Connolly.

There are compilations featuring his halcyon period of1978-1980 when he had 2 major selling albums out, both of which are featured here but he also had the group with Biily and of course, Stealers Wheel. All are present on this album, together with the solo work just before Stealers Wheel- and all periods and selected tracks are worthy of inclusion here.

The disc starts with 3 tracks from Humblebums days, including Blood and Glory, a little reminiscent of Lindisfarne and featuring Billy on banjo. Then tracks from GRs initial solo period, including the amusing Can I have my Money Back and the lovely song Mary Skeffington. Than the best of Stealers Wheel, with of course that track now ever associated with a certain film and Star but really all 5 SW tracks are quite superb.

So to the big selling albums from 1978 and 1979, City to City and Night Owl. Baker Street in all its 6 minutes majestic glory and with some of the best sax breaks on record. 5 more tracks from these 2 albums and every one sublime. Then 3 tracks from the less successful albums Snakes and Ladders and Sleepwalking but all the chosen tracks are excellent, especially Days Gone Down.

If pressed, I would have liked the inclusion of the City to City title track, with its chugging rhythm but that aside this represents 78 minutes of the best of this fine, rather mercurial individual musician.

3.0 out of 5 stars A standard A4 ring binder, 14 Nov 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a very standard A4 ring binder, It has a decent matt-ish finish and 2 sturdy round ring clips inside to hold the paper etc. Nothing special at all but then it has not been advertised as anything more than a standard binder..

A true example of exactly meeting the advertised description.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the great albums, 17 Oct 2014

This review is from: Mott (Audio CD)
This is rightly considered to be one of the great rock records and is one that I have always loved.

I saw the band 2 years before the release of this classic album and they were incredible live. This has the feel of a live album for the point of view of the energy, tight musicianship and sheer determination on the part of all the musicians to make this as superb as it is.

Ian's lyrics are among the most wry and honest he ever produced - a slightly jaundiced view of the rock world but I guess ultimately enjoying the benefits brought by the massive up turn in their career, helped by Bowie;s famous injection of All The Young Dudes.

The album has a swagger that is hard to match, allied to superb playing and a clear joy in delivery. I never get tired of listening to this and it puts a lot of other acts to shame. Mott were never as good. From earlier albums, my favourite of Brain Capers but I love this record. The bonus tracks are just that - a welcome bonus, especially Rose.

5.0 out of 5 stars I saw this advertised and thought our granddaughter might like it and I was right, 10 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I saw this advertised and thought our granddaughter might like it and I was right. This is a novel dealing with real issues- bullying and serious illness.

The author adopts a sensitive approach throughout and introduces children to an important subject, with human relationships very much to the fore. The characters are believable and brought to life by the author, who has a very sympathetic approach.

It is fairly easy to read and our eleven year old has now also appreciated it. I feel that this book could be used as an effective aid to introducing important subjects to children.

Definitely recommended.

PaperPro Evo Compact One Finger 15 Sheet Capacity Power Stapler
PaperPro Evo Compact One Finger 15 Sheet Capacity Power Stapler
Price: £9.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Good little stapler, 9 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This small, power assisted stapler males an irritating noise and I am glad that I do not need to use it very much - but it works well and effectively staples 10 sheets ( my maximum to date but I have no doubt it will do the advertised 15).

I did work out how to load the staples - this is a bit different from the stapler I normally use. It does not seem very robust and has a short guarantee but is perfectly fine for general use.

In all, a small, easy to handle stapler and recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ones to go for every time, 30 Sep 2014

These double CD cases are amongst the best I have bought.

They are hinged in the middle, which I find easier to open than when they are hinged at the right hand edge. They are sturdy, unlike some I have found and altogether are excellent value for money. They are not the cheapest but are worth every penny because they will clearly last.

Compared to most on the market these are the ones to go for and I recommend them.

This a superb collection of music from the 60s, including the Mersey groups, solo artists and flower power sounds, which is very much to my taste.

Attractively packaged with details of composition. So far hours of listening reminiscences in the garden!
