4.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, 7 Jun 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Cold Fear (Xbox) (Video Game)
I avoided getting this game based on many reviews i read some said the controls were terrible, others said the lack of map made the game virtually incompletable but my only complaint with this game was its far too short. I bought this game on a whim and received it yesterday and i was absolutly amazed the graphics are great, the atmosphere is top notch basically if your a fan of resident evil, 28 days later, or any B-horror out there then this game is for you imagine all those things combines, put it on a Whaler and that's basically what you have here and intense, crazy, lead basted thrill fest from start to finish, sadly the finish comes way too quickly. A few things i need to clear up the lack of map is not a problem basically if you read the signs you will be ok not once did i have a problem with lack of map. There is a thin story line thats basically covered like the first resident evil the meat of the story will be found in diares, lab notes etc. The controls ok so you can't control the camera but with your gun aimed (Resident evil 4 laser style) you can walk around that way and honestly i found myself walking around like that for the majority of the game as alot of it is dark and the flashlight on your handgun helps alot. So the camera isnt an issue either to me anyway. Saving again i had no problems wit this but alot of people have, basically you save at certain checkpoints in the story and i didnt find this a problem really because it did make it more of a survival horror. The aiming system is incredible also, you could be aiming at a group of zombies and the boat could take a sudden tip in the storm and totally throw you off meaning u really dont know whats gonna happen next. All in all the only thing that keeps this from being a straight five stars is length there are a few movie reels and concept sketches to be unlocked but you can get them all by completing it on normal so there really isnt alot to come back for except hard mode which ill probably do in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, 28 Aug 2005
This review is from: Dark Moon (Mass Market Paperback)
I love Gemmell he is easily my favourite writer, and this book is simply the best. I read the rigante books, Druss the legend the Waylander series (my second fave) and the Jon Shannow series the Drenai tales and White wolf (and a few others i forget) but this is easily my fave its so well written and just pull u right in takes u for a ride then spits you out beaten, worn out yet loudly exclaming "woha what a ride!". I wont ruin the plot but Tarantio and his demon counterpart Dace are my fave characters or character. What are you waitign for click buy now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, 27 Aug 2005
This review is from: The Sims 2 (PC CD) (Video Game)
After playing the sims 1 with all the expansion packs, i had to have this! i traded in 5 games and got it for a pound so it wasnt too bad, and when i installed it i realized it was totally worth it! The game is totally diffrent from the others, 3it is a big game but i never had a problem running it and my comp is 2 years old. The only problem i have is the expansion the sims uni, when ure character is sleeping or at class and the clock speeds up it lags slightly but thats ok i can handle that. Ok what makes the sims 2 so great you ask? well ill tell you, first off it 3d and it looks amazing, the customizability is just breathtaking u can customize anything from characters coclour, body weight etc right down to the size of the forehead he/she has. Also the houses now have 4 floors yes u heard me 4 FLOORS! also there is a new aspirations meter which means, whatever aspiration you to Fortune/Love/Knowledge/Family or Popularity u have certain wants and fears, if u fulfill the wants ure character dies happy, fears your character will get depressed, have a breakdown and die quicker. Also in the sims uni u now have lifelong dreams (mostly getting the highest promotion in ure job) if u get that ure characters aspiration meter will be maxed out. There are other things like unlocking items, if you get enough aspiration points you can get items such as a simolean tree that if you take care of will give you money or an idea cap which lets u learn faster or even an elixer of life that adds days to ure sims lifespan! Same applies for jobs if you get a high enough promotion you get secret items like i got an obstical course in the army job which puts ure body skill up. Of course now your sims age and eventually die, you can also have children by pregnancy oh and a nice new feature is you have to keep your fridge stocked up by ordering messages over the phone. There is so much more i could go on forever, but i wont lets leave some element of surprise for when you buy the game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Well W.S Anderson does have one talent...., 1 Aug 2005
And thats completly botching seemingly great films i mean Alien vs Predator you instantly think wow regiments of Preds facing off against massive hordes of Aliens in some far off planet full of blood, gore, insane battle sequences and space marines being torn to shreds in the middle. Instead what do we get? a horribly boring, unessesary intro that doesnt tell you a thing about the characters (well a few details), all it really tells is that theres a tomb where there gonna send some explorers a chick who's got the brains to pack a gun, a guy who after years of funding digs up a bottle cap, a lass who cant help but state the obvious (cold water kills you, dont split up) and a terminally ill man (and others). So into the story the characters arrive at the tomb and go un and have a look around, then the predators come...the predators look good (as always) but theres only 3 of em! and the aliens well there aliens there always awesome lookin, so after we wait ages finally comes a few (niceish) fightscenes but nothing that really leaves you with the intended "wow" factor except maybe the end battle but again nuthing spectacular. All in all another potentially great film ruined by Mr Anderson. Why wont they learn?.

5.0 out of 5 stars well..., 1 Aug 2005
I was very nervous bout buyin this game, but it turns out i made a very good choice in doing so. I had heard so many bad things about this game (bugs, lag, economy, battle systems) but i never really found much of a problem my only complaint is in large cities the game does tend to lag up a bit other than that this is easily my fave mmorpg, its so diffrent leveling up is great instead of your normal beat something until you level up, this game has a tree graph where you choose what you want to level up in (scouting, entertainer brawler etc) and there you choose how you want to level up say you want to become a brawler you would have to decide if you wanted to be a hand to hand, single armed weapon, double handed or polearm then you can pick a profession from there. You can train them all up of course to become a master. Another thing that worried me was the actual player economy there are npc's to sell you weapons and armour its all done using the in game characters, which means crafters and such can start there own buisness in supplying weapons and armour to other characters. I love the fact you can own a house and furnish it, the vehicles are great and space combat well, you can see for yourself. Overall a brilliant game and a must have for either star wars or mmo players.
