5.0 out of 5 stars The Plan, 26 Jun 2009
I first had this set of songs when they were first released on records in coloured vinyl. The songs have a rougher edge to them than Tubeway Army's self titled first album, and have stood the test of time better as the quirky synthesisers are kept out of the picture more. They are in keeping with Gary Numan's current songs, though in a punkier style, if you imagine stripping down his current songs you can see a structural similarity to what is on this CD. I highly recommend this CD to fans who are curious to hear how it all began.

5.0 out of 5 stars Re-imaging a classic, 22 May 2009
What you have to do with this film is accept that it is a re-imaging of the classic, once you get past that you can really enjoy the film as it is very good. Along with an excellent new story and excellent casting there is also the fantastic make-up used to create the apes. A thoroughly enjoyable film.

1.0 out of 5 stars Midnight Cowboy rip-off, 20 May 2009
This review is from: Mirrorball (Audio CD)
Sorry all you Foxx fans but "Estrellita" is just a rip-off of the title music from the 1960's film "Midnight Cowboy". Can't he come up with his own tunes or does he think we're all idiots???

5.0 out of 5 stars A sweet little one, 20 May 2009
This review is from: Translated From Love (Audio CD)
I really like this album. Kelly's voice is very relaxing to listen to and far better than a lot of current female Country singers. My favourite song is "Sweet Little One" and "Teddy Boys" is very good too. The cover version of the Iggy Pop song "Success" was a surprise, thankfully without the crudeness of the original song. If you're looking for a very good Country album this one is worth getting.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite Velvet Underground album, 18 May 2009
This is one of my favourite albums. In complete contrast to the happy hippy bands of the time The Velvet Underground came along, and still hold strong in comparison to a lot of modern stuff. My favourites are "Waiting For The Man" and the songs with Nico. Andy Warhol also produced this album as well as making the artwork, but while the songs that Lou Reed sang are crystal clear for some reason the sound is slightly distorted on the Nico songs. It's very rarely that I listen to "European Son", dedicated to the poet Delmore Schwartz who Lou Reed describes as "The first great man that I had ever met" on his solo album "The Blue Mask". "European Son" is noise for the sake of noise. The rest of The Velvet Underground's album's are very good, perhaps "The Velvet Underground" with the song "Candy Says" on it is the best of those.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of The Velvet Underground, 18 May 2009
If you're curious about The Velvet Underground this is a very good way of hearing what they were like, and then if you want to you can see what the albums are like. Here you get all of the very good ballad-like songs that Nico sang on as well as some of Lou Reed's best songs. "Heroin" and "White Light / White Heat" are not the most accessible of songs, they screach and distort and it might take a while for you to like them or you may not like them at all in preference to the rock music that is on the rest of this CD. My favourites have to be "Waiting For The Man" and all of the songs with Nico. On the front cover there is a nice photo of the band with Andy Warhol that I haven't seen on any other CD of The Velvet Underground.

I really enjoyed this book and found it impossible to put down. Some peole say that it is similar to Thomas Mann's "Death in Venice", but I find this more human and more touching than Mann's short story. This book had very poor reviews when it was first published, but I really like it and it is a book I know that I will read again and again.

I really enjoyed watching the films of this box set, they are wonderful films. I haven't found time to watch the restoration documentries yet but will at some piont. Basil Rathbone is an excellent Sherlock Holmes and nearly all the films are adaptions of the original books.

I was lucky enough to see this film at my local cinema as they have "Classic Monday" on once a month. This is a very good film and I recommend it to anyone who likes old films that are thoughful, well told and well acted, etc. I won't tell you about the story as I don't want to spoil it for you :-)
