Wonderful book to own and have for reference. This is what a book and not a kindle is so useful for with its great illustrations - drawings and colours and presentation. A book for all the family to enjoy with solid information. A great present.

Atmospheric novel. Brilliant. Setting Paris 1975 Camille after her mother's death receives letters regularly she believes are meant for someone else. They contain details of how a young woman just before World War 2 befriended a wealthy couple and what happened to her. Slowly it occurs to Camille she is involved in this and wonders who is feeding he this information and why. Suspense etc.

This review is from: Black Like Me (Paperback)
. This is so well written . This story took the news headlines in its time. A true story of John Howard Griffin who decided to see what it really was like to live as a black man with the prejudices and limitations afforded in 1959 in America. Griffin was carefully monitored with drugs and other treatments to turn his skin colour. He was very aware that the treatment given could he harmful however he was determined to see what daily life was like for black people. This was at a time of segregation and you cannot but admire Griffin for going through and recording his findings. But this reads like a thriller . It should be read by all. It highlights how a segregated community become joined in their struggle and how one can only really understand the situation of innate alienation of people of different colour. Only by changing his colour which gave him no voice and little choice did he understand the ghetto life. In this Edition Robert Banazzi wrote a chapter entitled ' Afterword' in 2009. It deals with Howard Griffin's life leading up to 1959. An incredible life.

This gives an adequate shave but it takes quite a bit of time to complete. Easy to handle. The fact it can be used for wet or dry shave is particularly useful.

Ownership of this book is the next best thing to ownership of many of the antiques illustrated so beautifully. There is a tactile sense of pleasure to be derived from simply turning the pages. What E book could possibly match this?

Informative and to some extent explains how insults can be batted away using the insulters' ammunition. For example a stone that is thrown by the insulter may be picked up and thrown back to greater effect. The anecdotes are very good and illustrate perfectly why people are insulting and how best to deal with them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nutritious food for dogs, 29 Sep 2013

I have always rated Eukanuba dog food with five stars but this time I am disappointed. Firstly I noticed that unlike other Eukanuba dog foods this particular packet was greasy on handling and the other more important reason for downgrading it is that usually with Eukanuba the excrement is easy to pick up and indicative of a good bowel movement. However with both my dogs this has not been the case. Also not as important but nevertheless a great Eukanuba feature this packet did not have a zip opening that keeps the packet fresh etc.

This is a great book to have near you so that you can refer to it and remind yourself of and enjoy the refreshing outlook Nassim Taleb can impart on you. It has to be a book not a kindle. Wonderful, Enlightening and humorous. So enjoyable. There are parts that I found difficult to understand but the great thing about Taleb is his wonderful style of writing. If you continue reading he always manages to explain anything you found difficult by telling a pertinent anecdote which makes everything very clear. I look forward to his next book.

A true dramatic story beautifully written about the attempt to take horses to safety from the political and economic situation in Zimbabwe today. A wonderful present for someone with the love of horses and an interest in that country. This is a great book for young and old.
