1.0 out of 5 stars What apologists refer to as evidence of Jesus but..., 13 Sep 2013

Not when you point out that Josephus was merely documenting the lore(s) of the day, he mentions other prophets. He also neglects to mention perhaps the most heinous crime of King Herod, killing all young children in an attempt to get Jesus after he was born despite writing 4 rather scathing books on King Herod. Conclusion, the account of infanticide was most like an embellishment written in to the story when the Gospel of Matthew was written, after Josephus wrote his works. Christian apologetic answer, Josephus was a Jew so wouldn't like to promote the truth of the new testament, but erm didn't you just use him to argue Jesus existed...

5.0 out of 5 stars A real page turner., 19 May 2013

"Let's sell these people a piece of the Blue Sky" provides a well researched blow by blow account of formation of the The Church of Scientology and of its founder L Ron Hubbard.

The content is both fascinating and startling. Aside from details of the evolution of the church of scientology's strange core beliefs it has detailed accounts of many secretive*(1) operations undertaken by the Church of Scientology to subvert critics and organisations it saw as enemies.

Any one reading this book should be left in no doubt that the Church of Scientology was and still is dangerous organisation that will stop at nothing to silence criticism and forward its agenda of world domination (aka clearing the planet); not least perpetrating the largest ever infiltration of US Governments (many suggest the infiltration of Government agencies, local, national and international is still a major operation for the church of scientology).

This book also reminds one that while the church of scientology is suffering badly*(2) at the moment it has survived such times before; it seems it need only wait for people to forget. The only new feature in this latest bad times for the church of scientology is the Internet; one hopes "Anonymous" really does "never forget" and never lets those who matter, leaders and opinion makers, forget either.

*(1)That only saw the light of day thanks to various court cases and documents collected during FBI raids.
*(2)Several law suits against its front organisation Narconon, real life protests by Anonymous, a new independent scientology movement, general bad PR and ridicule across the Internet.

Richard Dawkins makes a very strong well, reasoned case for there not being a god and certainly not a christian god.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tragic tale beyond belief, 9 Feb 2013

This has been a very interesting read giving an insight in to a child and young adult who grew up in the Church of Scientology. Jenna life seems a mix of being blessed by being related to the leader of the church of scientology while at the same time cursed by it too. On the one hand she gets to experience life in the highest echelons of the church of scientology while on the other she's made to do hard labour for long hours. Recommended reading for anyone curious about the church of scientology.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd only to Jon Atacks 2nd edition of piece of Blue Sky, 8 Feb 2013

This book is very well researched and unashamably impartial with respect to the subject of the church of scientology. Recommended for anyone even thinking about joining the church of scientology and those still in.

I sincerely hope those still caught will some how recognise the trap through works such as this and at the same time find a way out.

My message to those still trapped is we exist in a time when evangelical pastors who become atheist can find a way out of their livelihood so there is hope for everyone who realises their lives are based on a lie.

5.0 out of 5 stars A riviting read., 20 Jan 2013

Unlike others I didn't read this in one sitting, I had to go to the toilet and eventually bed. This book flows beatifully and like others I found myself hearing Seth's radio voice narrating it while I read it. I'll no doubt read it again as, just like the podcasts, I will no doubt get more from it the 2nd time around.
