5.0 out of 5 stars a classic billy wilder, 24 Nov 2013

They certainly don't make films like this anymore which is a sad realisation about how film has changed since 1967. Contemporary comedy writers and film directors should take a leaf out of Billy Wilder's director's manual and be inspired by a masterful film maker. The Fortune Cookie is a heart-warming, cleverly written, meaningful, funny and artistically brilliant classic, where the pairing of Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon is directional acting of sheer class.
A few years earlier in 1960, Billy Wilder produced The Apartment with Jack Lemmon and Shirley Maclaine. It is a little darker in mood but the Wilder magic shines through to produce another touching and amusing masterpiece. CH

Is the Piano Man the ultimate Entertainer ? Well he is on this concert. Where does Billy get his energy from ? From the early eighties this brilliantly electric show shows a true master at work. OK so the visual quality may not be to current Blue Ray clarity but this is a quality timeless concert from over 30 years ago. Billy stomps out the songs we all love, with great rock n roll attitude, and then sings out his heart as the romantic balladeer. To fans who lived through Billy's best years, we can enjoy and marvel at his showmanship. All the favourites from Piano Man to Glass houses are here. Buy this brilliant DVD and be thrilled, inspired and entertained !

Thanks Donald for a cool album of creative brilliance. 40 years on the master is still "Doing it again" producing classic ironic jazz-rock for all true music lovers of the Western world. Listen and be inspired to the new direction in modern jazz.
He may have completed the Trilogy of separate works, the New York time journeys from 1982 to 2006 (Nightfly (past), Kamakiriad (future) and Morph the Cat (current) but I hope he now sees that with retirement years ahead he'll start doing it all again (again) with a few albums of cool jazz covers. Come on Donald, invite Walter down from Hawaii to New York again, and use the great past of jazz and Steely Dan-ize them into new classics. You did it with "Ruby Baby" and have now done it well with "Ghetto" on Sunken Condos. You could even do a Ray Charles album ? What a neat musical milestone that would be ? Overall "Condos" is pure excellence. Buy it and be hooked for life.
