5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, 15 Sep 2013

I count myself fortunate to have been to all of Christian Blackshaw's spellbinding Mozart performances at the Wigmore Hall last year. Whilst a recording can never quite bring back the magic of the live performance, these recordings are nonetheless superb. Blackshaw played with the lights in the Hall turned down low so that the audience concentrated more on the music. So I recommend buying this CD (and those that follow it); sitting down in a comfy chair, turning down the lights, and lose yourself in this beautiful music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great all in one TV/Blu Ray, 2 Oct 2010

I looked long at hard at different TVs and chose this because of the built in blu ray player and the internet connectivity. A new feature for Sony is that you can get BBC iPlayer, which we started using the same day the TV was delivered. A great TV at a good price. NOTE: If you have a wired network at home (eg with the very useful Devolo routers that go through the mains electric circuit) you don't need to buy the Sony Wireless dongle to get the internet connection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping without being sensationalist, 24 Nov 2008
I started reading this book quite late at night and I could not put it down. Meticulously researched, it sets out in measured prose the unfolding details of a terrible story - and one that could all too easily happen again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty much my favourite record of all time, 8 Nov 2008

Not much more to say than that. Not easy to listen to for the first time. But that was almost 30 years ago for me, and the rhythms and noises from Y have jangled around in my head for most of the intervening period.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius, 31 Jan 2007
This hasn't left my CD player for a week. It creeps up on you, hints of musical references to Sgt Pepper, to Cockney Rebel, all wrapped up in swirling dub baselines. And lyrics about things that matter, not the self centred bland pop rubbish we've had to spend the last ten years listening to. Thank you Damon, my faith in pop music to provoke and progress has been restored.

5.0 out of 5 stars Same depth, different direction, 11 Nov 2004

This review is from: Champagne And Grits (Audio CD)
I've had this CD for a month or so, and it has taken a few listenings to realise how fantastic it is. I found it not as immediately accessible as Little Axe's earlier work at first, but now I think it is the best thing Skip McDonald has done so far. Part of that comes from his collaborators - check out in particular "Go Away Devil" - an extraordinary fusion of blues and dub with Junior Delgado; and "All In The Same Boat" - lyrics and singing by Chris Difford (of Squeeze, for those of you old enough to remember). Pure poetry.
So, music fans, give it a few listens before making a judgement.
Oh, and by the way, thank you Skip,
