New direction, same quality!, 1 May 2002
So many people have slated this album, but I for one think it is seriously worth a listen. It's a more mature album than of old, and while it certainly sounds different to the other albums, this album proves that 'different' certainly does not mean 'sub-standard'. 'Macy's Day Parade' is a beautiful, haunting song about commercialism. 'Minority' is very catchy, and will leave you bellowing 'I wanna be the minority!' at the top of your lungs. 'Warning' is another example of Billie Joe's shining lyrical genius. And as for 'Jackass', well, there surely isn't anyone in the world who can't think of someone to relate that song to.
Yes, Green Day have grown up. And yes, they're still as brilliant as ever.
