4.0 out of 5 stars The pivot of greatness., 21 Mar 2014
Metal Gear solid as a series, as a video game, as a story and as a journey is the greatest single event in media.

Hideo Kojima is a modern day genius and without him i would not be playing video games.

His continuation of the story comes as a prologue to the main story that follows directly after 2010's PEACEWALKER (an absolute gem of a game) and thrusts you into Big bosses shoes as he attempts to extract Chico and Paz from their US captors.

The gameplay mechanics have been improved the graphics have been improved and the overall sense and feel has taken yet another direction.

The 'MAIN' mission can be completed within an hour but with multiple pathways of attack and plenty of unlockables it has its own replay value.

Once you complete the main mission and are brought up to speed with the story you can re enter the game via a selection of 'side missions' Different scenarios to carry out on the map different perks and rewards.

This is were the 'value' really is. Its well worth the 23.99 as youve a solid 10 hrs gameplay here and the sense of anticipation for THE PHANTOM PAIN is unreal.

This is a must buy for fans and definitely worth picking up if you are stuck for something to play on the PS4 (maybe trade in a couple of old games knock off 15-20 quid in store)

Cant wait for the phantom pain.

Thank you Kojima san

5.0 out of 5 stars Game of the year??, 31 Dec 2013
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This game has blown me away...

Imagine Mario 64 mixed with Mario bros 3 and then add in a totally new amount of beautiful and lovingly created tricks, levels and creative gameplay.

I bought the ps4 on launch day and like so many have exhausted its meager launch line up ... I enjoyed it and had a bit of fun and have dripping anticipation for later releases

I have been fooled ... Like so many .. The current best next gen system is the Nintendo ! SOLEY for this game alone which is a MUST buy.

What this game has caused me to feel emotionally , has shocked and surprised me greatly. I can't remember the last time I played a game with a smile constantly on my face

The levels are so creative and brilliantly designed. There are surprises and hidden gens strewn everywhere. The amount of nostalgia mixed in with genuine challenging gameplay makes me feel like I am discovering video gaming for the first time again

Brilliant from Nintendo who deliver for the millionth time.

If you have been toying with the idea of picking the Wii u up and have been eyeballing 3-D world well eyeball no longer !

This could very well be game of the year 2013

2.0 out of 5 stars Bizarre but cheaper alternative., 30 Dec 2013

Its 9.99 and for that you get a good sized usb charger and a slick piece of plastic.

Its just somewhere for your controllers to sit rather than laying everywhere.

Its 25 cheaper than the official dock (which is an actual charging station) but i still say this is better value than the 14.99 pointless PS4 stand?

Look at it in 2 ways. Either you just want a longer usb cable and a place for your controllers to sit for cheap...or add the 9.99 retail price of this and get the smart charge official product for 35 (which is very expensive)

naff little product but cheap.

3.0 out of 5 stars ABOUT TURN, 30 Dec 2013
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
I received the PS4 on launch day and have been playing 2-3 hours a day since. Initially i was in LOVE with the controller..there was serious thought about the size and feel of the buttons and analogue sticks and i was proclaiming this may well be the best console controller since the N64.

SONY really seriously has to consider allowing us to turn the lights off on the controller...the piercing coloured lights YES are very cool to look at but for goodness sakes surely sacrificing battery life for aesthetics is completely wrong! you have to charge this controller every 3- 4 hours...i am CERTAIN if you could turn the beams off youd get 10 hours easily! It loses 2 points for this alone.

The analogue sticks are a major improvement on the ps3 controller but that really is not making any serious statements, the problem off the ps4 sticks is that they dont stand up to much gaming..they start to fray and chip after a while and im actually really concerned that once an Epic title is released and im going to be putting 50 hours plus into a game my controllers wont get through it. They arent massively damaged by any means but the beginnings of cracks and chips are forming.

They arent very well put together. The controller grips arent slotting as well into place as id like and there is minor clicks and slides that annoy me and distract me whilst playing..i have to forcefully press it into place to stop in moving, its worrying as i reckon one drop onto a hard floor this thing will split faster than my belt buckle after 10 pints.

FOURTH and most definitely the most ridiculous point.

This controller does NOT support heavy recreational grazing of snacks! if you get your beloved cheese dust or crisp greasy crumbs on your fingers you are finished! there is absolutely no grip on the analogues !! hahaha this may actually be a good thing and stops me from nailing family bags of cheese puffs! infact i may add a point back on for this unintentional healthy improvement to my lazy existence !

Its a decent controller but marred with problems. i have to retract what i initially thought.

2.0 out of 5 stars Visual feast , virtual chore., 10 Dec 2013
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
It's beautiful.

But that is really it. The visuals are a treat to behold and this glorified tech demo suffers severely from a mundane story , bad enemy AI , poor combat mechanics and absolutely dreadful wave attack style enemy gameplay that honestly makes you think that if the programmers wanted to, they could honestly have you sitting for hours in certain sections of the levels awaiting yet another wave of brain dead enemies.

The level design blows hot and cold and there really isn't much to do other than constantly press the trigger. YES it's a shooter but for goodness sake do SOMETHING other than force me to aim my cross hair at the enemies head ! There is no tactical elements or stealth gameplay to be had .

I know I'm being overly harsh on it and it could never live up to HAlo as a launch title like that one was in 2001 but honestly ... They just needed to put in a playable open world section on one level with multiple angles and pathways of attack for me to even consider replaying a level.

The good thing about this game is that it can be ripped through and admired visually within a couple of days and you can get right to selling it off quickly .

The multiplayer is average and offers very little in way of engaging addictive gameplay .

My advice would be to play it and complete it as quickly as possible and then trade it in/ sell it and use the money towards Battlefield 4 which is outrageous fun ( although buggy as hell)

A simple beautiful romp with very little innovation and substance I would not recommend buying this at full price .

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding machine, 1 Dec 2013
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The playstation 4 DRAGS us into the next console generation and this beautiful machine is one of the sleekest, powerful and amazingly user friendly experiences I've ever known with any type of hardware.

As soon as you open up the box you know that SONY are making outrageous statements with how minimal the design and setup of the console is . 1 power lead and one HDMI lead and THAT'S it. It's astounding how simple it is to set up and they have squeezed so much into this joyous little box

The controller is simply the best console control pad that has ever been created. The analogue sticks are absolutely perfect and the weight and size of the controller honestly is the most comfortable gaming experiences I've ever had.

As soon as you put your game in it begins to install but with Sonys new technology you can play your game INSTANTLY and the minute you begin playing you realise that this is exactly where you want to be in your gaming life.

HOW Sony have managed to get this much out of something so compact and stripped down is an absolute master class of engineering and design

With minimal fuss and absolute wonderment I can happily say that this is the most excited and content I have ever been after 25 years of gaming. You will know the minute you start this console up that you are witnessing a machine that has been crafted and created with love and feels like a personal gift from Sony for us gamers

What a future we have. This machine has made an old man very happy. Very well played Sony. Thank you for understanding the modern gamer !

5.0 out of 5 stars What a game. Get involved., 9 Nov 2013
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I got this game on release which is a year ago.. i still play it. This for me indicates that i really love this game. Ive traded in several games over that year but i have never been tempted to trade in Agent47...the main reason??

REPLAY VALUE... a concept that so many games forget to concentrate on.

The replay value of Hitman Absolution is many varied many many ways to go about each level...the level designs are so tight and amazingly immersive..i love the sense of threat that each level has and going about your business with excellent controls is a joy.

I made it my game of 2012 which really surprised me as i wasnt a huge hitman fan.

Some levels honestly give metal gear solid a run for their money...swap agent 47 for snake and it wouldnt feel out of place. Attacking the bomb factory is many ways to execute your plan...through the toilets? up to the facotry roof? dress as the arms dealer for ultimate freedom? ah its sensational and i adore a game that makes me feel like I AM IN COMPLETE CONTROL.

People dont rate the disguise function very semi really have to find the DEFINITIVE costume in each level that grants you freedom..i will admit that at times it cant become so brutally frustrating when you spend 20 mins silently going about your business..then grabbing a decent disguise just to be HOUNDED by the enemies... maybe on certain levels where you can get the definitive costume for disguise then if does feel very rewarding.

The story is ok..its not something you will spend your waking hours thinking about but it helps keep the action coming.

This is a must own. This will fill your time for the next 3 weeks before the ps4 comes out.

Really looking forward to the sequel and i have to admit IO software are extremely talented. The game looks and feels absolutely brilliant. People NEVER watch me play video games...but ive had friends and girfriend sit and watch this masterpiece just because it looks so bloody good!

Go grab it

This review is from: PES 2014 (PS3) (Video Game)
Why are konami continuing to fun the pro evo division of their company?

I swear to all that is sacred this has to be the biggest fall from grace of any gaming series.

SURELY the developers and programmers can blatantly SEE WITH THEIR OWN EYEBALLS THAT THE GAME IS A COMPLETE DISASTER???

Shambolic effort and honestly....whoever is putting the reviews up 5/5 on amazon HAS to be being paid...if you have given this game 5/5 in your review it is your DUTY as a human being to STOP THE LIES AND THE BLINDNESS OF FANBOYISM so that you can contribute SOMETHING to this life...

AWFUL and so depressingly sad that this is what Pro evolution soccer has ended up like.

3.0 out of 5 stars Extreme fun...but, 22 Oct 2013
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
... thats your lot..

Its absolutely brilliantly doubt about it, roaming the streets...stealing amazing supercars...blowing alot of stuff up...all for about 20 hours or so before the beaming smile on your face turns to half cracked smile.

This is a brilliant game...well designed..immense fun..tweaked responsive controls..excellent voice acting and script...lovely little details strewn everywhere.. brilliant brilliant craic and well worth the admission fee

This is absolutely 100% no where near a AAA game.

Its one of the least immersive games...there is absolutely no emotional reward for following the main missions...its not engaging and you will find yourself just forgetting the mission half way through and drive up a mountain ...rob a bmx and fly off the peak to your death.....FUN...but this is not a rewarding gaming experience and anyone giving this 10/10 or 5/5 is an infant...who likes to stick their hands into something sticky and smear it all over their underdeveloped heads.

Ive had a blast playing it and played it to completion (typical inane and mundane GTA style missions...i dont want to spend my free time being a glorified take away delivery driver) drive here...shoot that...steal this...

Its a shallow romp that is most certainly value for money...and the world IS a better place for its existence...

A must buy to get us through these final weeks before the PS4...but if you want something engaging and something that connects you to the gaming... get Th_ _a_s_ o_ U_ fill in the blanks

If you know what its like to wake up in this predominantly terrible, infuriating, venal and nihilistically sad story we're all living in, then you know that you need destractions...

Man made made sports betting...

But it is WE who decide how far we take it.....and steve palmer has accompanied the theatre with an attempt to make a few quid to support and fuel his love of the games that men play, existing along side them and turning a hope into a dream.

This book outlines all the glory and hope and failure and success a regular man can have in this torturous sham of a society...

We await the update master palmer....youve been doin well recently...
