5.0 out of 5 stars Top Mod book covering 60s to the 21st century, 24 Aug. 2014
This most be one of the best ever books on Mod culture up there with Richard Barnes 'Mods' book, I'm not to be honest a big book reader but 'Sawdust Caesars' made me want to read it from cover to cover, not because I was featured in it from days doing 'In the Crowd' modzine, but because not only does it cover the original Mods but also 1979 revival period along with Skinhead,80s underground scene, Brit-pop and right up to current mods in some depth.
Another great thing about this book is that It's all about memories and views of people involved in the scene over the years and not just one persons opinion on Mod, It's also Packed with loads of great photos in it's 350 pages.
In my view a must buy book for Mods of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Mod powerpop by The 'Real' Risk, 20 Oct. 2011
This review is from: Good Times (MP3 Download)
Great slice of soulful Mod powerpop from the one and only The Risk, that being Guernsey's Mod powerpop band that is!
The Risk were huge on the underground 80s Mod scene and produced 3 excellent 80s albums, Good times is taken from the second soon to be re-released on cd for the first 'Invitation to the blues'.
If there was any justice Good times would be a huge hit but rarly these days does any guitar bands get a look new or old thanks to programmes like the xfactor!
You can still catch The Risk playing live today to prove you can't put a good band down and you don't just have to remember the Goood times!

This review is from: MARK ONE (Audio CD)
The debut 80s mini lp from Guernsey,s Mark le Gallez before The Risk great thumping Mod power pop on tracks like Dead end sammy and I Don't want to know your name, also featured are live tracks taken from 87 unicorn record release Out and about performed by The Risk showing off the bands excellent live sound with added brass to give them a more soulful sound on numbers such as the classic Down and out.
Altogether a nicely packaged cd and a must for any one,s collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool 80s Mod/Powerpop/Psyche, 29 Mar. 2011
This review is from: Loud Shirts & Stripes (Audio CD)
The Risk were my local Mod band when I lived in the Channel Is of Guernsey, have seen them live more times then I care to remember, and this their debut Album which was recorded in California during the mid 80s, really catchers some of thier great live sound.
Apart from the very '79 mod revival powerpop of 'jobs for the boys' it does have a very southern California 60s pyche/garage sound to it, with fab offerings such as 'Man insane' 'So strange' and the out of this world 'Twilight zone'! not to mention some cool sleeve notes by some guy called Del!
In my view very good debut album by the Risky boys, do keep an eye out for forth coming releases, including all of their Albums on Cd for the very first time, plus lots of bonus tracks to boot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mod for it, 27 Feb. 2002
An excellent compilation featuring some of the best bands, both 79 and 80s of Mods second coming. Classic anthems such as The Circles 'Opening up' The Moment cutting 80s insight 'In this Town' and just out of this world powerpop from super Small world with 'First Impressions' plus a few fun songs like 'I've got my Parka' make this a must for The mod-ern world.

5.0 out of 5 stars 80s Mod gods!!, 27 Feb. 2002
The Moment were one of the most powerful Mod bands of the 80s taking 60s powerpop chords from The Who and early punky 'Jam' sounds to come with fantastic Mod anthems for the 80s.
Songs like 'In this Town' and 'With this ring' show this off to good effect, this compilation is a excellent tribute to a brillent band
