I really enjoyed this novel, particularly the unique writing style of Brian Durrant, maybe its the teen in all of us that makes all of the characters come to life, I'll certainly be looking out for more by this author, a very moving story.

A fantastic read. An emotional rollercoaster, which could affect any family, told with complete empathy, I found all of the characters perfectly drawn. From losing one child to saving another ? But at what cost.
The opera House is the first book I've read from Hans M Hirschi
Looking forward to more.
Very Highly recommended from here in UK
Thank You Hans.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Compassionate Family Story, 13 Jun. 2015

This is a wonderful book. As the Whitfield family face The Second World War. Two brothers Billy and Eric are destined to have a very different experience, While Billy is sent away as an evacuee to live on a farm, Eric continues with his dream to volunteer as an RAF pilot.
This novel manages to capture the full atmosphere of how families were affected by war, from Billys determination to Erics more spiritual journey. This is a great tribute to the dedication of the RAF and the sacrifice made by many. The story told with an incredible humour.
Will have to read more by Chris Whitfield
Very Highly Recommended.

This review is from: Seven Ways to Die (Kindle Edition)
Superlative writing at its best. From the Nez Perce Indian reservation in Idaho to New York’s Central Park is a straight line right through Bill Diehl’s last and most intriguing lead character, Micah Cody. Having read so many of William Diehls stunning novels. Seven Ways To Die is certainly a culmination of the authors many talents. With its Indian Reservation start, you could easily believe you were in a Jack London novel. Diehls empathy with his characters are always evident and the seven ways to die are as always superbly researched. As I'm sure many fans wil feel, I don't regard this as a swan song but as a beginning point for many new readers to discover fine writing. Absolutely brilliant read.
Highly Recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Book, 6 Jun. 2014

This review is from: Goodbye to Soho (Kindle Edition)
Goodbye To Soho is an amazing read, Possibly because I know and love Soho being the heart of theatreland. Clayton Littlewood is fiollowing in the steps of the many great diarists and observers of their period. From Pepys to Dickens, to Thomas Hardy and E.M.Forster, their observations of human life capture the imagination of future generations. I can recognise so much from these memories from Clayton of this wonderful melting pot of characters.
Most importantly I remember the loyalty and support in this area.
Highly Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating and insightful Novel., 28 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a fascinating novel which is beautifully crafted by Hylton Smith and must bring back many memories for those born during or after the Second World War, All f the characters are well drawn as the mystery of a skeleton found at a coke works unfolds to involve everyone from the local police, MI5, MI6 and The Abwehr. My favourite character has to be young Harry who makes friends with a group of German POW's.
It was a pleasure to find this gem of a book.
Highly Recommended.

Frank J. Edwards has written one of the best medical thrillers I've read in a long time and a very natural read, most importantly for me, characters that you really care about, from its chilling start to its deadly end, my favorite character Arbus of course, I think Jack Forester could be addictive, looking forward to what I hear is the return of Jack and Zelluie in " Bedside"
Well done to the author will certainly read more.
Highly Recommended.
