1.0 out of 5 stars Only 3 month's use - originals lasted 3 years, 1 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After 3 years of use, the batteries in both my Toyota car remotes started to elicit the "remote battery low" dashboard warning. I replaced them with these. Last month, after only 3 month's use, one of them started to fail. Today (4 months from new) the other one failed. So the original Panasonics last three years, these, three months. Either these are old or faulty stock, or they're fakes. Doesn't really matter which; either way they're not worth buying.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good product but not quite as expected, 2 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this unit as a replacement for a Gerber multi-tool which my son decided could be in better hands - his.

I had high expectations of the Leatherman and confess that when it arrived I was a little underwhelmed by the look of it. To start with, the side scales look nothing like the ones pictured on Amazon. This made me wonder if the one I'd received was a fake. But in fact the one I received was the same as the one currently pictured on the Leatherman website for the Charge TTI. So why Amazon chooses to picture a different version to the one they actually send you I'm not sure.
See a photo of my Charge TTI here: [URL=[...]]
And the slight run-off on the measuring scales: [URL=[...]]
EDIT: the links were removed by Amazon but I've put them in the first comment.

Also, the build quality wasn't quite what I expected. Just little things, like the rulers not being completely straight, and so not quite lying flush against the outer scales at each end. Also the plain outer blade fouls the casing just slightly when being closed. Perhaps I'm too used to European build quality from Gerber and Victorinox, but I did expect something slightly better from the Leatherman.

This is not to say I'm unhappy. The tools themselves all appear to be of good quality steel, and well engineered. Some reviews have commented on stiffness of operation. On mine, only the main opening of the tool (i.e. when opening the pliers) was somewhat stiff, and is already improving with use (and a little oil). The tools themselves all operate slickly and easily, as do all the corresponding locking mechanisms.

All in all, I'm happy that this is a high quality tool that will serve my needs for a very long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great charger - why pay more?, 10 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had been considering Google's "orb" charger for my Nexus 4 but the orb sells at 60 or so and I can't imagine it does a better job than this one. (The main difference is that the orb shape causes the phone to sit at a angle, presumably so you can view/use it while it's on the charger. Not an issue for me.)

This charger has a neat and effective design. The pad is quite small and thin, and so is unobtrusive when not being used. It has non-slip rings top and bottom which work fine in keeping the pad and the phone in place. It does not have a power supply, but does come with two USB leads, a short one (for use with a laptop) and a long one for a mains charger. Any existing micro-USB charger you have should work fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well-made probe with one major flaw, 4 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I really like this thermometer. It is very solidly built, does not need batteries (it charges enough for a few readings in less than a minute under room lighting) and is very stylish. It's also pretty quick in reaching its reading.

The one let-down is that it's Fahrenheit only, though the description might lead you to think otherwise. This version should really not be shipped in Europe. I don't know if CDN do a Celsius version.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good and very economical security light replacement, 2 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
With a tiny 10W consumption this lamp is not as bright as the 300W bulb it replaced but it's certainly good enough for my purposes. It lights instantly of course being LED and has a good spread. This was a test purchase and I have just ordered another one for my other PIR lamp.

Many reviewers have commented on the size with consequent problems with fitting, and it would be useful if more detailed dimensions could be added to the online description. The overall length and depth are supplied, but what is not so clear is that the bulb is quite bulky AT THE BACK of its casing. Most security lights have a parabolic reflector designed to reflect the light from the back of the bulb outwards. For this purpose the ideal location for the bulb is at the focus of the reflector, which is very close to its maximum curvature at the back. Because of this the new bulb wouldn't just replace the old one. But then I realised that this new LED fitting only gives out light at the front, so in this case the reflector is pointless. So I simply removed the reflector and the bulb fitted perfectly. If the outside casing of your lamp is bigger at the back than needed to house the reflector you can probably do the same.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Kindle conversion, 22 Jun 2013

(Rating for conversion only.)
Yet another sloppy text conversion job; it seems that all words split with hyphens in the original justified text still carry the hyphens even though they now appear in the middle of a line. This is not a hard thing to sort out, I could programme it myself. The publishers should show more embarrassment.

5.0 out of 5 stars All you could ask from a screen protector, 17 Jun 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent value screen protectors for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and a real bargain at the price. If you follow the instructions carefully it fits perfectly and makes almost no difference to viewing or operating the touch screen. The pack contains 10 sheets plus 10 microfibre wipes for ensuring good cleanliness and adhesion. For best results I'd suggest first cleaning any grease from the glass with a cloth dampened with some soapy water, followed by a wipe dry with the microfibre wipe. (Warning: I do mean just damp! - don't overdo the water! The S3 is packed with water sensor "tell-tales" which change colour to let the Samsung service centre know if your phone has got wet inside, invalidating any warranty.)

10 sheets is enough to last for years if you're reasonably careful. Also it gives you some leeway to make a mistake or two. It's very easy to get specks of dust under a screen protector if you're careless when fitting. Also I suggest you first offer up a protector to the screen with the protective backing still on it to see exactly where it sits - note the cutaways for the front camera and sensors. If you align it badly, you really have to abandon that try and use another sheet. Once you've placed it you can't take it off and put it on again.

I did see an earlier review that the protector didn't extend fully to the edges of the phone. They don't, and there's a good reason for this. As you get near the edge, the flat front surface starts to curve away towards the side frame, and so the protector is designed to stop short of this. If it was any bigger, the edges would soon lift up and start to pick up dust and dirt and have to be replaced.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked fine - for a short while, 23 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I see from Amazon's records that I bought this lamp on 16 September, that is 4 months ago.

It worked well enough, obviously not as immediately bright as a regular "hot" bulb, but in 30 seconds or so it was reasonably bright, certainly enough for my purposes.

But now it's broken. It worked normally up until last week but now when triggered the bulb flashes momentarily and that's it. As it's probably only been on for less than an hour in total I can't believe the fluorescent tube bulb has failed though overuse. So I reckon it's down to the circuitry, particularly as I see another reviewer here has had exactly the same problem.

The Messiah Contract is an entertaining and fast-paced thriller with a keen sense of humour. And how often in a thriller do you get succinct philosophical argument thrown in for free? See God in his many guises! Learn new unarmed combat moves!

Seriously, a great read and much better than many "big publisher" books. And all for 2.29!

4.0 out of 5 stars Astonishingly cheap!, 26 Oct 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great product, and is replacing a poorer one which cost six times as much. The bell push is easy to fit, the back plate has holes for screws and plugs (provided) or it can also be fitted with a sticky pad (also provided) on a suitably smooth surface. The front then just presses on and clicks into position.

The white bell unit is presentable and has a secondary mains socket, although this seemed kind of stiff on mine and pulling a plug out of it again is hard work. The bell is pretty loud and has a decent "normal" chime as well as 15 other novelty ones.

A minor niggle is that the bell push has a small window at the bottom for your house number. However no amount of poking and prising will get the plastic cover off this, so I can't use it. Any more force and I'd probably wreck the casing, so I've given up on that. If anyone knows a clever way to do this, I'd like to hear from you!
