4.0 out of 5 stars How to get the right tension / wool for us Brits !!, 12 July 2014
Having looked at the desired tension, it would seem that 4.5 mm or 5.mm needles with aran wool would work with these patterns .. if that's any help? :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab! Bright, inspiring and easy !, 12 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Although these patterns do not include charts/graphs, their explanations are excellent (much easier I find than some of their
English equivalents). The book shows a variety of bobbles, clusters, shells and just a few ripple patterns. For those of us
who enjoy texture and simple patterns, this is great! Bright, colourful photos and easy explanations. It is an american book
using american terminology, but not a problem once you swap the names of stitches.

Practical Modern Crochet
Practical Modern Crochet

Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring, fun and freeing 1970's crochet, 5 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well, I love it! This is one of the better 70's crochet books encouraging you to explore your own creativity
with simple stitches and quality yarn. It shows irregular circular cushions, blankets, shell stitch hats .. and how
to freeform / create your own garments working with a paper pattern .. AND much easier than you think.. for this
is a forgiving medium. And we forget, is meant to be FUN! Explains stitches and tricks that modern authors think
they invented (Vibeke was here first!)… all in all, a great addition to my collection. If you can get it cheap-ish.. then do!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Inspiring, Colourful and Poetic !, 9 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well I found this book beautiful! They talk and walk you through their abundant garden that they have grown from scratch and give you various small projects to illustrate this.
Yes there are wee knitted mice and dolls with tiny sweaters to knit, a chubby bumblebee... but also embroidered pansy pillows for the garden, colourful crocheted throws
(using all your scraps and very easy to do), crocheted trimmed, knitted runners etc Also using tiny strips of simple knitting to curl up and make innovative placemats and cushions.
I just love it! This is inspiration at its best. Their use of colour is liberating, their use of small wool scraps so creative. And even if you didn't make a thing, their photography and
illustrations are just dreamy and stunning. I'd rather this book any day than a bog standard crochet or knit book with the samey, style less patterns you can get anywhere..

Joie de Vivre Tarot

Price: 22.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky, delightful yet wise, 19 Jun 2013

This review is from: Joie de Vivre Tarot (Paperback)
My current favourite deck (along with the Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan).. The imagery is so delightfully quirky and conjurs up
the emotion of the card beautifully. Don't be fooled by it's childlike use of pictures, it evokes great insight and wisdom and
the wording in the LWB is superb.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Creations, 19 Jun 2013

This review is from: Vintage Crochet (Paperback)
Original Japanese crochet makes with lovely use of colour. Some are actually knitted (a basketweave cushion cover, child's scarf) and
not crocheted, but all in all an inspiring book.. due to the translation, you do need to take your time as you are mainly working
from a crochet chart.

The Parisian Diet: How To Reach Your Right Weight and Stay There

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, honest and seems doable, 19 Jun 2013

This diet is more about re-framing your attitude to french portion sizes and the way they eat mindfully. They're known
for luxuriating over meals, and really, this only helps one be aware of what is being eaten and therefore encourages
satisfaction. The diet itself appears practical and honest, and could easily be a food plan for life.

What to Wear for the Rest of Your Life: Ageless Secrets of Style
What to Wear for the Rest of Your Life: Ageless Secrets of Style
by Kim Johnson Gross
Edition: Hardcover
Price: 13.31

5.0 out of 5 stars Honest, helpful and punchy, 19 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having read loads of books of this genre, and being a Stylist.. found this to be one of the best. Yes, it's simple, but
effective. Kim writes honestly, especially for women "of a certain age": and it is refreshing to find clear suggestions
which aren't sugarcoated, as to how to move forward with a lack lustre wardrobe. Taking an honest inventory of where
you are now, who you are and how you would like to be portrayed in your life.. then taking action to fulfill that vision. Great stuff.
