5.0 out of 5 stars FOLLYFOOT REMEMBERED - DREAMS COME TRUE WHEN YOU WANT THEM TO........!, 17 Oct. 2008
This six DVD box set of Follyfoot, contains all thirty nine complete episodes of this award winning family drama - available for the very first time. From Dora's (Gillian Blake) first arrival at Follyfoot Farm - a home of rest for sick, unwanted and mistreated horses through to the final episode, you can follow the stories of Dora, Steve (Steve Hodson), Ron (Christian Rodska), Slugger (Arthur English) and the Colonel (Desmond Llewelyn). Follyfoot was based on the novel Cobbler's Dream by Monica Dickens - great granddaughter of Charles Dickens, and the drama revolves around the rescue of the horses, interwoven with the developing relationships between the main characters. I guarantee this "must see" series will keep you totally captivated. Filmed entirely on location in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, with acting and story lines of the highest possible standard, the continuity and attention to detail is so evident throughout every episode, and that is why Follyfoot has achieved highly acclaimed cult status. I guarantee you will watch this timeless classic over and over again, and will leave you wanting more - what a treat you have in store - enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars FOLLYFOOT REMEMBERED - DREAMS COME TRUE WHEN YOU WANT THEM TO........!, 17 Oct. 2008
This two DVD box set contains the last ever thirteen complete episodes from series three of this award winning family drama. The first episode, The Distant Voice, opens with Dora (Gillian Blake) now the new owner of Follyfoot. When recently widowed Mrs Padgett (Mollie Maureen) arrives at the farm asking for help with her sick horse Tansy, Steve (Steve Hodson) tells her there is no room. Mrs Padgett explains that the Colonel (Desmond Llewelyn) always promised he'd look after Tansy, and Dora agrees to take a look at the sick horse. She discovers that the horse is suffering from strangles, a highly contagious infection, and decides to bring Tansy back to Follyfoot, where she can isolate and take care of him. According to the vet, this is putting all her own horses at risk, but Dora insists she knows what she is doing. Whether she can save Tansy and convince everyone that she is not "irresponsible" remains to be seen, but all thirteen episodes, some unseen since the late 1970's in this last ever series are totally un-missable. The final episode of the series "Walk in the Wood" sees Dora restless and disillusioned about her future, deciding to leave Follyfoot for good, but what will happen to the horses and people that depend on her? I guarantee this "must see" final series will keep you totally captivated. Filmed again entirely on location in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, with acting and story lines of the highest possible standard, all the regular cast make a welcome return. The continuity and attention to detail is so evident throughout every episode, and that is why Follyfoot has achieved highly acclaimed cult status - enjoy!

This review is from: Follyfoot Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
This two DVD box set contains all thirteen complete episodes from series two of this award winning drama. If you bought and enjoyed series one, I guarantee you will be totally blown away by this second series. The first episode, Someone, Somewhere continues from where the last episode of series one ended, with Steve (Steve Hodson) leaving Follyfoot to search for his mother in Liverpool. Dora (Gillian Blake) is left heartbroken, but with the stables to run, and an owner to find for a stray horse, life at Follyfoot carries on as normal. Whether Steve can find his mother and ever return to the farm, and Dora reunite the owner of the stray horse remains to be seen, but all thirteen classic episodes from the second series are totally un-missable. I guarantee you will watch them again and again. Filmed entirely on location in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, with acting of the highest possible standard, all the regular cast make a welcome return. The continuity and attention to detail is so evident throughout every episode, and that is why Follyfoot has achieved cult status. After this release, there is still one more series of thirteen episodes, some unseen since the 1970's, so cannot wait for the final instalment - enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars FOLLYFOOT - A MUST HAVE TIMELESS CLASSIC, 4 July 2007
This review is from: Follyfoot Series 1 [DVD] (DVD)
This box set two DVD, contains all thirteen episodes from series one of this fondly remembered, award winning drama. Filmed entirely on location in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, this series was originally made to appeal to the teenage market, but quickly became a firm favourite with all ages. With stunning locations, and acting of the highest possible standard, the reason for its success was that people could identify with the characters, and the sensitive and heart-warming storylines. The stories centre on "Dora" - superbly played by Gillian Blake - a sad and lonely girl, who goes to stay at Follyfoot Farm - a rest home for retired and ill treated horses. The drama follows the adventures of Dora, Steve (Steve Hodson), Ron (Christian Rodska) and the Colonel (Desmond Llewelyn) as they rescue and give a home to horses in need, as well as facing up to their own personal problems. "The Lightning Tree" used in the title song, refers to the beautiful tree in the stable yard that was struck by lightning, which Dora is convinced will grow again one day. This theme song introduces each episode, and there is stunning use of incidental background music used throughout each episode. For people who remember the original series, this box set will exceed all your memories and expectations, and for those new to Follyfoot - what a treat you have in store! There were three series of Follyfoot - a total of thirty nine episodes - so cannot wait for the next release.
