4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice re-issue with bonus unreleased stuff, 29 Jan 2014

This review is from: Wow! (Bonus DVD) (Audio CD)
Whatever the intentions, this ought to be at least a 3-CD release. Bonus unreleased material is there (and I'm very happy with this) but a lot of stuff is missing here. That said, it's a more than decent re-issue with a decent mastering. The vast number of versions / mixes missing here (due to lack of space I suppose) makes it essential for Edsel to release a collection of at least 2 CDs containing the missing releases from all re-issues ("Love Truth & Honesty" is a considerable loss here - also the 5min single version of "Strike it Rich" on the B-side of the U.S. 7inch never released on CD except in Japan) with some surprises of unreleased goodies from the vaults, maybe? I didn't have second thoughts on buying these re-issues and if we give this whole project a warm welcome, maybe we'll be rewarded with some bonus-es :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a great job done!, 29 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Though there are more than a few tracks missing to say this is "complete", it's the best issue yet released. We get previously unreleased tracks from the "vaults", loads of liner-notes and pictures in the booklet and it's a serious effort for the first time ever. Hoping for an extra Nanas collection with the missing goods. Four stars are because there was glue on a part of the DVD which proves careless packaging as opposed to this well-cared re-issue.

A lot of care has been taken for this result. All rarities are there, to satisfy the even the most difficult completist. Booklet and design are superb and mastering is (finally) decent. Don't hesitate.

The ultimate re-issue of the first album. Recommended for all Nanas devoted fans. Everything is here. Mastering is decent and I don't believe there will ever be another release as complete and well-designed as this one, so go ahead and grab it!

3.0 out of 5 stars A very good album but not remastered as it should be, 22 May 2013

I would gladly give this one a 5-star because it's an excellent album with satisfying bonus tracks and 12" versions. BUT, unfortunately once more, good sound quality is sacrificed for the sake of (unnecessary) LOUDNESS. Treble is too high, bass is too low and in some cases sound is a bit destorted (the familiar loudness problem). Nevertheless, this is the only way to get some rare tracks in CD format and if your ears are not too demanding, you won't have an other opportunity to get something more complete than this offering.

JOHN MORALES PRESENTS THE M & M MIXES VOLUME 3

5.0 out of 5 stars Disco heaven from a true master, 22 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
John Morales just can't go wrong. In my humble opinion, this is the best M+M compilation so far. Spread over three CDs, are real gems of disco classics, treated with respect and imagination from one of the giants in mixing and editing. The sound and mastering are excellent, the vibes are fresh and re-imagined with full respect to the original releases. If you like long disco versions, this compilation will definitely satisfy your ears. A big thank you to BBE for doing the job right on this one. Mr. John Morales, keep this stuff coming!
Some info about the packaging: It's a digipack that unfolds in 4 parts, with liner notes from John Morales (1st part) and all the info about the original releases under each of the three CDs. CD labels are reproductions of "knobs" from old 70's sound-equipment (a clever detail). I'm gonna spin these to death!

5.0 out of 5 stars Complete and sounding better than ever!, 22 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Being a disco lover and completist, this double release was the dream of a lifetime. Any reservations I might have had about the sound quality of this project (there's a bunch of "re-mastered" re-issues around that sound awful) have vanished. THP orchestra has been remastered with love and respect and it sounds better than ever. The variety of versions can satisfy the most demanding collector. If you like orchestral disco and discofied themes, this is for you. The epic "Two hot for love" [LP version] is disco at its best. For the first time ever we get these gems in superb CD quality and all the versions of the tracks released at that time (in both U.S. and U.K.). Disco Recharge hit full success with this compilation and I can't wait for the next two THP albums to be released at a similar format. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars a big thanks for the disco versions, 31 Oct 2011
I'll skip the classic tracks (with excellent mastering) and and go straight to the bonuses: The European Disco Version is NOT the 12'' by Meco (which can be found on almost every disco compilation for the last few years) but the U.K. single remix that was never before released on cd! Adding to the whole, on disc2 there is the ultra-rare U.S. 12'' remix by John Luongo (also on a Dutch 12'' with no remix credits)first time on cd also. We would love the "Copacabana" versions to be included as well (disco cover of the Manilow classic - B-side to U.S. single of "This Is my Life") but this was a good effort whatsoever.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is how a re-issue should be, 31 Oct 2011
This review is from: Break Out (Audio CD)
There's no doubt that "Breakout" was the most successful album The Sisters released. This is a re-issue with total respect to the buyer's money. Everything is there: single versions, 12'' mixes, alternate versions spread on two CDs packed in luxury. The mastering is good, a pick for the completists. Congratulations to the company for this. If only other re-issues were treated like this one! A gem!

3.0 out of 5 stars happy about it, but my vinyl sounds better!, 27 Oct 2011
I was so happy to read that this was finally out on CD that i bought it almost immediately. Basically, I bought it for "Love Magnet" (I'm a huge disco fan) but was quite disappointed by the mastering. My vinyl copy sounds A LOT better than this. The soul-ballads sound fine, but the dance tracks and especially "love magnet" sound bass-less with no depth at all. Yes, a good choice for an album, yes, a rare item, but no, the mastering is BAD. If you want this only for "Love Magnet", stick to your vinyl.
