The Last Four Things by Paul Hoffman, 6 Jun 2011
After thoroughly enjoying The Left Hand of God I also expected big things from the next book in the series The Last Four Things. I found the book to be a good read, however not as good as its predecessor. There are two main reasons for me thinking so. The first is that although all the main characters from the first novel are present, many has less prominant roles and they do not spend as much time together, meaning they do not have the same dialogue and interactions. The second reason is that there are several stories running concurrently, which did lead to the book being somewhat disjointed at times. On the other hand I did find the book exciting, especially towards the end and I felt the climax itsself brought the concurrent stories together nicely. I also felt the development of the main character Thomas Cale was intriguing.
