The book I wanted to write myself, 9 Oct. 2009
For years, I have been planning a cookbook in my head. Now I no longer need to write it because someone else has done it for me. I was given this book recently by a friend who was a chef for 9 years and has cooked for me often and well. This a book for chefs by a chef but mere cooks shouldn't be put off by that. The production values are marvellous - strong on knowledge and distinguished by the absence of glossy colour pictures. I have a second cousin who photographs food for a living and you wouldn't care to know what they spray on the food to make it look good! This book has none of that; it's totally unpretentious and now the pride of place in my cookery library.
