3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap with lots of features - you pays yer money..., 19 Dec 2011
Positives:

> Touchscreen works well
> Lots of features per pound
> Decent tone adjustments including cross overs, and loads of EQ settings
> Complete colour match to OE dash colour including a custom feature to get the colour exactly right (plus a load of presets)
> Nicely made
> Actually sounds quite nice (arguably the most important thing)
> I was able to buy a unit which allowed me to use my OE steering wheel stereo controls

Negatives:

> Screen quality when playing DVDs is pretty poor with loads of ghosting and bad colour balance
> It takes a long time to turn on (no biggie)
> The iPod cable is hugely thick and looks very clunky. It also plugs into the front of the unit rather than routing out of the back into a glovebox or wherever. The whole point of these do-it-all head units is that they look clean and integrate loads of functions into one box; this doesn't when running an ipod/iphone
> The ipod connectivity is slow, scrolling for music is much slower than using the actual ipod on its own, although you can switch to ipod control. Depends on which you prefer when you're in the outside lane of the M25...
> Faceplate is not removable
> The bluetooth phone is very very fuzzy for callers to you hear you. I understand you shoulnd't use it on gain seting 3 so I'll try to adjust that. It's almost unusable at the moment though.

I've always used Alpine head units and now I know why the equivalent Alpine version of this is another 200-300 - because it's probably 200-300 better!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pictures shine with this Nikon prime!, 13 July 2010
I got hold of this lens back in March and it hasn't really been taken off the camera since then apart from when I've needed the zoom of my 55-200. The autofocus is so much better than that of the kit lens with no hunting in low light conditions. It's nicely made and the manual focus ring is easy to use with a decent amount of manual resistance so it feel accurate to use. You get used to moving about more to frame shots rather than lazily zooming in and out of subject but the pay off in terms of performance is definitely worth it. I use it on a D40 which becomes too noisy above ISO 400. However, if you set the camera to ISO 400 and open the aperture right out you'll be amazed at how dark you can shoot without flash. The lens is also compact which makes carrying a DSLR about much easier and I wouldn't hesitate taking the camera on a day trip with just this lens in place. The focal length is perfect. I wouldn't recommend a 50mm prime as it become impractical for day-to-day shooting as you have to be so far away from the subject. Above all though the quality of the pictures stands out, especially for a relatively cheap lens.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but..., 28 Jun 2010
This review is from: One Day Remains (Audio CD)
I prefer their follow up 'Blackbird'. This record is good and as mentioned contains a variety of styles although many of the tracks are a little bit 'Dawson's Creek' for me - soaring ballads, minor keys and 'clench fist' soulful moments where you expect to see a video of a man playing a guitar in the rain in slow motion. Good but perhaps a little contrived in places.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unable to use it and software won't download, 29 Dec 2009
I bought one of these for my wife at Christmas and thanks to Sony not having the foresight to realise that they'd have a lot of demand on their servers with new owners atempting to download the drivers, it's currently nothing more than landfill. Waterstones acknowledged the problem but there's nothing anyone can do until Sony pull their finger out and sort out some more bandwidth. Why wouldn't they bundle in a disk with the software on it?

Replaced under warranty firstly and then the dog-cluch failed after having being used a few times. It's cheap for a reason. Avoid.

Well it's tiny, weighs nothing and work perfectly as a remote. It also comes with a little pouch which goes on the strap so you've always got the remote to hand.

4.0 out of 5 stars A welcome return to form, 10 Oct 2008
I've been into Metallica for 13 years now with the first album I ever bought being `Puppets (which is arguably their best ever)

This album is a welcome return to form with consistently good tracks which grow on you. This is definitely a slow burning record that will stay on your "listen list" for a good long time.

I would echo what another reviewer said about the iffy production - there is a lot of distortion on the bass and snare drums which sounds like your speakers are being over-driven. You would have thought that after Justice' and St Anger they would have nailed the production but it seems not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't have asked for more! 5 stars!, 15 Aug 2008
What a superb TV. Make sure you do it justice and use some decent cabling and feed it an HDMI source wherever possible. I hooked up my Onkyo DVD player via an Ixos HDMI cable and the result was awesomely rich colours and smooth movement when watching Transformers. The sound's poor but that's what you expect with any flat panel TV so no real surprise there. Standard Definition pictures through a QED Squart are not quite up to DVD quality but still very good indeed. The SD card reader is also handy and displays very crisp HD pictures. Ignore the "non-1080P" tag - it just doesn't matter when you can get all the benefits of a plasma in a 37" package for under 600.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic end to a fantastic series, 10 Nov 2006
I've spent the last 4 months reading this quadrilogy and all I can say is that I'm sad I've come to the end of a series of books which has has had me captivated from the first page of the first book. He doesn't rule out writing the post Caesar years in the Historical Note of Gods of War so here's hoping!
