5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshingly honest, 19 Aug 2013

I first came across Charlotte through her art and only later discovered that she was a writer.I was immediately struck by her unflinching honesty and forthrightness ...scarey at times but so refreshing in the world of the arts, where, these days, image and marketing seem to rule.
And so to "P Is For Prostitution", Charlotte`s latest, and most personal book. In her introduction, she warns that readers may find the tone detached or even lacking in emotion but, again, i simply found it refreshingly honest. Books which cover these sort of experiences have a tendency to fall into one of two traps...over sentimentalizing and romancing things which in reality could be horrifying and traumatic..tales of the elegantly wasted and their descent into hell, or, moral tales of redemption, designed to be a warning to those who come after. Charlotte`s book simply avoids these pitfalls by telling it as she remembers it...the way most people remember things..not as a linear day by day account, but as fragments of a life lived, and the alphabetical method used to do this, makes some very difficult topics, very easy to digest.
For those of you who lived through such scenes and came out the other side, there will be much that is familiar. For those of you who have not, its an opportunity to take a safe glimpse into a world you would normally be unlikely to have access to. An equally valuable insight for those working with young people or trying to cope with and understand the problems of loved ones, whilst also being a thoroughly engrossing read. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bible Without Dogma !, 14 Jan 2010

This review is from: Thee Psychick Bible (Hardcover)
Genesis Breyer P Orridge is one ov a sadly diminishing breed who truly fulfil thee role ov the artist as shaman. Its a shame that books like this will never reach as wide an audience as they deserve.I`ve been an avid reader and collector ov books on thee occult for thirty years or more and i reckon this volume will one day be seen as a very important classic text .Unfortunately, as it is in a limited edition ov 999 copies, it will only reach those ov us already in thee know. Personally i`d put it on thee national curiculem to give thee future "Wreckers ov Civilisation " a head start. Maybe thee worlds just about ready for a bible without dogma ! If you cant afford to buy one get your library to order it before they`re all gone and, hopefully, even though it will devalue my copy, there will be many reprints.
