I was hoping for a analysis of a very sad case maybe giving some insight into psychology of Hazell. However this was simply a rehash of information available from newspapers at the time. There were endless quotes, I noticed three consecutively on one page, mainly from local people speculating .It was incredibly repetitive and at times I thought id accidently lost my place and was re reading a chapter. There is no original thought in this book and it does no justice to the gravity of the subject matter

I bought this book based on the good reviews and was very disappointed. It started well, the author set a very atmospheric autumnal seen with changing leaves, rolling mists and the promise of Halloween. Unfortunately the characterisation was flimsy and clichéd. The female protagonist was, with the exception of Bella from the twilight series, the most annoying I have encountered and the way the romantic subplot played out was childish. I never do well at solving murder mysteries but even I guessed the twist here. I gave up half way through and skimmed the last chapter just to see if I was right...guess what? I was.
