3.0 out of 5 stars Good music, poor product, 5 Sept. 2011
This review is from: Again! (Audio CD)
As always Rob and the guys are great, although a couple of tracks which I wouldnt have expected. The big let down here is the product NO inner sleeve notes what so ever. Really disapointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jazz fan from Birmingham (former member of Nyjo), 31 Mar. 2003
This review is from: Chasing Reality (Audio CD)
This album is superb. Gerard has excelled in every aspect of his horn playing on his latest project "Chasing Reality". It is a fantastic modern masterpeice with outstanding playing from all parties including the excellent Chris Dagley on drums. I have followed Gerard since playing next to him at Nyjo rehersals many years ago, and now he is the complete horn player and also world renowned. I advise anyone to purchase this album, it has a fine cross over from small be-bop jazz group to modern alternative avangard jazz. A master peice. Well done mate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jack Sharpe big band "Roarin" Reviewed by Martyn Yorke, 6 Oct. 2002
This review is from: Roarin' (Audio CD)
This band is an embarressment of riches. With the majority of the players coming from the excellent ranks of Nyjo (National Youth Jazz Orchestra) it's no suprise that this is a fine album. The opening track is a treasure "I'm begining to see the light" is an swinging tune with outstanding solo work from Chris Pine on Trombone & a rare feature from the former Tuby Haye's side kick Jimmy Deuchar. Whilst I'm on the subject Of the late Tubby Hayes, take a listen to 100%Proof. This epitimises everything that Tubby was, played by the outstanding Dave Bishop, it realy is a gem. Every track is outstanding, from the superb Lead trumpet work of Derek Watkins, to the gentle sound of Andy Mackintosh on Alto sax. Take a listen for yourself, and enjoy the sound that is Jack Sharpe.
