An okay game, the story slows it down and is a bit irritating, I get fed up of it quickly and only play it a few minutes at a time.

A disturbing story, enough to put most people off visiting an Arab state, I would think. although the true baddie of the book is not from that culture. Some very strong language, mainly from the aforementioned baddie. There is no textbook happy ending which makes the story stronger, and it describes the culture well and the understandable frustrations of the women who have to have signed letters of permission to do anything, and whose opinions are not listened to because they are female. Well written but just not my cup of tea.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay for a free download, several sex scenes, so not for those who like their romances clean., 31 July 2015

Fairly basic predictable romance stories, a bit saccharine - the action does tend to jump a bit without warning, it is suddenly days later but you are still on the same page without a chapter or scene break.

The 3rd story doesn't follow on from the other two, Kylie is a very minor character hardly mentioned in the first two books, I was expecting Beth's story next but instead we are told she is with her dream partner but not how it all happened, instead this last novella in the volume which is the weakest story of the three, involves a paradise island with a 'master' where what you need is ? magically provided - methinks the author watched the series Fantasy Island before writing this.

It was okay for a holiday read but am not tempted to download volume 2 - but maybe if that also came up as a freebie I would consider it.

I ordered this small bag to replace a canvas one that had gone in holes, but it is too small to be of much use. It would hold my kindle and one or two small things but not big enough to hold my brolly without it sticking out of the top. I ended up ordering another bag in the medium size which I would have described as a large tote bag. Nice choice of colours and the bags seem well made, just pay attention to the measurements to make sure the size is okay for your needs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good value kindle case., 23 July 2015

Nice colour, the kindle slotted in easily and fits very well, a good replacement for one which fitted in elastic straps - the elastic stretches and doesn't keep the kindle secure after a while. The reason I give it 3 out of 5 is that it is a rigid case so wouldn't protect the kindle much if it was dropped onto a hard surface. I also doubt that it is real leather. The automatic switching on/off when opened/closed seems a good feature but not convinced it always switches off when closed. Sometimes when I open the case the screen flashes and comes to life, other times it is as if it has been sitting switched on for an unknown length of time.

I've read and enjoyed some of this author's other books but although I persevered with this one, I really wasn't enjoying it. The lead characters never came to life enough for me to care about what happened to them. These were hard times but it did feel like family members were being killed off willy nilly at times. There were a few inconsistencies in the book too: the family were strapped for cash or well off at the whim of the author at times. Dianne comes in from seeing a visitor off to realise her mother has only just gone missing in a blizzard and doesn't appear to make the slightest attempt to search for her but sits reading her bible rather than going after her while her footsteps would still be visible. I also wondered just how much laudanum was procured for the journey to enable her mother to consume so much of the stuff - they must have had an endless supply. Why does Dianne just accept the doctor's verdict that it will do her mother no harm in spite of all the evidence to the contrary? I read quickly but felt it took a long time to get through this, I certainly won't be buying any further books in this series.

These seemed to help cushion my heels and stop pain, although by the time I got them it was easing off anyway so not sure how much they helped. They stay in position well but aren't comfortable enough to wear without socks.

A good book and an interesting read, I felt the author really got under the skin of the main character (so to speak), but what detracted from it in my opinion was that some of the introspective chapters at the beginning of the book could be seriously cut down without losing much and the rushed ending could have been expanded on. Instead we cut to a year later when all the action has happened and we missed out on the beginnings of her romance as well as all the recovery after surgery stuff.
The 'voice' of Mona changed significantly in the last chapter and didn't seem consistent with her mode of speech throughout the main body of the novel - far too gushy! The reunion with her family felt a bit 'off' to me as well - after Mona's parents died why didn't they make more of an effort to keep in touch, after all they would have known where she was living.
Apart from these points I would recommend it as a good story with a lot of interesting characters despite it being about a 'shut in'.
