5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for daily prayer, 24 Aug 2011
This review is from: Common Prayer (Paperback)
If you're struggling with your prayer life, this book will be an invaluable companion. My wife and I have been using this together for a few weeks now, and it has revolutionised our devotional time. Its simple yet profound liturgies are littered with challenging quotes and provide a sound framework for morning and evening prayer, even when you don't have much time! A recommended buy!

The Message of the Cross (The Bible Speaks Today)
The Message of the Cross (The Bible Speaks Today)
by Derek Tidball

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have exposition of the significance of the Cross, 20 May 2004
This is a first rate exposition of the significance of the cross for Christian theology and living. It starts by surveying the Old Testament, seeing how the shadow of the Cross falls across each page. Then Tidball takes a detailed look at the cross from the perspective of the passion narratives of the gospels, then looking at the testimony of the NT epistles exploring, what the cross has acheived and how we should live under it. Not written in an ivory tower it is useful for all (not just ministers) who want to see how Christ Crucified is the climax of God's redemptive work. Ideal for personal study, group study (with a v helful study guide), especially if you are leading the group or preaching on the subject of the atonement. If you only have two books on the atonement, get this and John Stott's "The Cross of Christ" and you will not be disappointed.
