3.0 out of 5 stars Great game, but a ripoff on PS vita.., 31 Mar. 2012
I bought this game when The first PSP came out in 2005 and despite the babyish appearance of the characters its a really great game thats quite addictive and you can pick it up and play in short bursts so its great for handhelds.

Now onto the ps vita version, I pre ordered this before the Vita came out from a former major game shop on the high st. at a cost of £35 , which i was slightly reluctant at first to pay , as I still have it for the PSP and it promised to be better on the larger PS Vita screen and it is a great game so I eventually gave in and bought it.

Well the bad news is that the game ,visually, is no different to the PSP version, I would actually say the visuals are worse than on a PSP 3000, the characters are blurry when moving on the screen and I'd say this is just an upscaled version of the psp game slapped onto a memory card with a hefty price tag.

i have since traded it in and downloaded the everybodys golf 2 game from ps store for only seven pounds to play on the Vita instead and the graphics are just as good , if not better than this, I wouldnt recommend wasting your money on buying this new instead download either of the psp versions as I have from the PS store, as psp game downloads will play on the Vita.

I hope this review helps.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yet another stupid Sandler and chums movie..., 24 Dec. 2011
I only got to watch this because it was at the bottom of my Rental list (I must have had the foresight to know it would be garbage) and when I opened the sleeve and saw the happy madison logo on the disc I knew this would be a laugh-free film.

Anyway the lead is played by Kevin James (superstar of huge turkeys: Paul blart: mall cop, and Grown ups.) both of which were produced by Adam Sandler's production company, the aforementioned Happy madison. and its about 10 or 15 years since Sandler made a funny film.

What little plot there is, revolves around a zookeeper (James) who is shy around women, so the Animals at his zoo start giving him dating tips. The special effects with the talking animals were good to its credit, but there is little plot to speak of and its definitely not a comedy unless youre aged about 4 or 5 years old.

I think the only reason this film and most other recent sandler films exist is so Sandler and all his buddies can get together and party and have a laugh, whilst getting paid millions Grownups a prime example, and raking in millions of $ more from gullible suckers who pay to watch his films, and Kevin James definately owes sandler a lot for keeping him in paid employment, as otherwise he'd struggle to get a job doing TV commercials.

To sum up, I'm glad I only rented rather than bought this, but even now I'm sorry that theres nearly 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. Avoid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome meat loaf concert with a twist..., 23 Dec. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I only discovered this DVD a few months back , after getting into meat loaf more in depth , as I really liked the "Heaven and hell" CD with Bonnie Tyer so I know most of Meats best songs or so I thought anyway.

Well this DVD just blew me away, the orchestra perfectly compliments the songs which i didnt think would work, meat sings all the best hits from the bat trilogy of Albums, and the Band are excellent, along with Patti Russo and CC on backing vocals , the whole thing is just so well glued together. You can play the concert through and each time find that a lesser known song you weren't as keen on has grown on you and have a new favourite. Although all are great , I can watch this repeatedly and still enjoy it, and pick up on a part that I'd missed previously, although this was filmed in 2004, around 8 years ago now, meat shows no sign of all the various health problems He's suffered in recent times and really powers his way through the songs. and there's no shortage of hot women dancers either between songs just to keep your attention!

If you're interested in this DVD there is also a Cd available as well, some rare versions of the cd feature a bonus DVD with bonus videos and tour photos - this is also a great package if you can get it.

All in all a fantastic concert , and the orchestra adds a great twist to some fantastic rock songs, and has very quickly became one of my favourite music DVDs, well worth the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yes, it really is as dull as you'd expect.., 22 Dec. 2011
I'd heard and seen many reviews about this film so was unsure about whether to buy it or not , after all the very concept of an entire film about Facebook is not something that sounds the slightest bit entertaining , anyway I thought I'd give it a go as some people said it wasn't like they expected.

Well the bad news is it really is as dull and boring as you'd expect it to be. I should have been warned off really by all the 5 star reviews on the slipcase, this is always a bad sign from past experience, as any film that needs to sell itself THAT badly must be awful. The 2nd indication this might be a stinker is that its based on a Aaron sorkin screenplay ,this is the bloke responsible for the shockingly bad tv series - the west wing.

Anyway the film is just what you know already, some spoit brat computer geeks dream up the idea for this site whilst at college, partly to get revenge on ex-girlfriends by posting vicious comments about them online, and to find out everything possible about potential new ones. It's like a modern update of weird science ie 2 geeks and a computer,, only without any hot women, a lot of boring techno babble BS dialogue, and is dragged out over 2 hours. little plot to speak of and nothing to gain by watching

My advice is avoid , or rent first if you must.

1.0 out of 5 stars overrated low budget Yawnfest, 15 Nov. 2011
I felt compelled to write a review for this tv show, as so many people rave on about how good it is, some even say it's the best tv show ever, and if you've never seen the show, and you're looking at the reviews with a view to buying its my guess is that you'd want to read a neutral review, not just a rave on about how great the show is like most of the reviews on here.

well, each season follows the police undercover in Baltimore, Maryland USA , in the first season they are after a Drug dealer who gets let off. And each following season has a similar theme. I couldn't say exactly what happens in the next 4 seasons as I gave up after the 1st. As it bored me senseless.

If you're looking for something heavy, long and drawn out, little plot or action , set against a depressing backdrop (think 8 mile) and enough f words to give the censors scissor fingers RSI then this is the show for you , provided you can stay awake long enough . All this poor excuse of a show is really, is a (very) low budget movie script , extended to fill an entire season on tv hence the painfully slow episodes and the need for constant swearing to fill in the time and try to keep the viewer's attention and fool them into thinking something meaningful is happening, when it very rarely does.

My advice to anybody thinking of buying this would be to save your money, buy the sopranos instead, or for a full season of gripping drama and action try prison break, 24 or murder one.

I hope this review helps. Although I'm sure i'll receive plenty of no votes from the converts, I just thought I'd give an unbiased opinion to help potential buyers of this box set - buy it and you'll wish you hadnt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent , hilarious ,and revealing documentary boxset, 6 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This box set consists of some of louis's weird weekends tv series from the late 90's / mid noughties as well as one offs from the when Louis met series, and 2 films about neo nazis and the largest brothel in the USA in Vegas.

I never caught any of the weird weekends when they were shown on the BBC as they were on bbc2 on a Friday night of all times but many years later thanks to the great invention of DVD, and later the dave TV channel I was able to catch up on this gem of a series.

In weird weekends Louis goes to make a porn film in LA, visits a group of White separatists in Idaho, goes to a swingers party, meets a group of black nationalists in NYC as well as investigating Thai brides industry , trying gangsta rap, visiting south Africa, and having a go at wwf wrestling.
He has his own style of interviewing the people to put them and the viewer at ease , which results in some hilarious results, all are great but the wrestling one is fantastic, as Louis asks some questions Which the trainer takes exception to,a guy called sarge,an ex army bloke who decides to put louis through his paces as punishment, a must see!

Also included is the when Louis met series of jimmy savile, chris eubank, Paul Daniels , Anne widdecombe, and the hamiltons.
All this is on 4 discs, and is great value for money at it's low price, it's a must buy if you like documentaries .

1.0 out of 5 stars More NCIS garbage, 3 Nov. 2011
I bought this on DVD in the sale recently ,at around £9. Which seemed good value as you get 6 discs with all 24 episodes on, I think it's 24 eps anyway. I like tv series on DVD and this seemed to be a bit of a bargain.

Unfortunately when the DVD arrived that's when things went downhill, and I wish I'd learned my lesson from buying the original NCIS on DVD as that turned out to be a major yawnfest , but this seemed to promise more plot and action and I hoped it would be better that the original. Alas it wasn't, I'm sorry to say, there was little introduction of the characters and their background although there is a crossover episode included on the disc. But the episodes were so dull that I gave up watching after 2discs and traded it in , although others have said it picks up after the 1st couple of discs, I'm sorry but I just couldn't be bothered with it.

If you want to try it then it's cheap enough to buy, and if you've the patience to stick with it to the end then you may enjoy it , but I was disappointed . I hope this review helps.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing over-rated comedy, 21 Oct. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I never saw this on tv as it was shown on satellite tv , for which I won't pay $ky-high prices to subscribe to. I bought this as something of a blind buy, having only read the other reviews which rate it highly, and I'm also a fan of ed o neill,s past comedy classic tv show married with children. As well as comedy series in general.

Anyway having forced myself to watch the first 2 discs of series 1, and I haven't laughed once, and I just struggle to find where the comedy is. It's supposed to be about 3 groups of people and their offspring from one dysfunctional family , and it copies the filming stlye of tv classics curb your enthusiasm and the office an American workplace in that it's like a documentary and the characters talk to the camera. If you can stay awake long enough you'll question what's the point of this is? And start searching for the remote to switch over.

If you've never seen this before then rent first, dont believe all the hype from the other reviews and make an expensive mistake of buying.

2.0 out of 5 stars A season too far, 29 Oct. 2009
Firstly, I have to say that 24 has been my favourite TV show since it first aired, and has remained pretty consistent throughout most of the episodes. But this season, I think, is one too many.

In the early days of the show the plot was so tense, and gripping, it was hard to put a disc in the dvd player without wanting to watch them all at once, but this season is just not the same.
The show just doesn't feel like 24, it feels like day 9 instead of day 7 - it's as if we've missed whats happened in between. this is because the storyline makes no sense, takes a long time to get going and doesn't carry on from previous seasons as they did before.
This could've been due to the gap in seasons because of the writers strike, but it's as if the writers forgot where they'd left off, so had to start again from scratch. leaving the viewer clueless.

we have yet another load of new faces that we don't know from before, including another new president, with barely any familiar faces, and there's no character development before the action starts - so it's hard to tell between the good guys and the bad guys. Add to this Jon voight playing a baddie, when he's previously played a goodie, people coming back from the dead for the 2nd or 3rd time and it borders on the unbelieveable and ridiculous.

What should have happened after season 6 is to make the 24 movie to tie up any loose ends, and finish the series.
Recently though with high profile tv shows theres a tendency to overrun the seasons made ,thus ending with a poor final season which ends up spoiling all the seasons that went before - instead of finishing the series on a high. typical examples include: prison break, the sopranos, the X files and alias, I think this simply down to the studios determination to squeeze more money from tv networks and sell more dvds.

1.0 out of 5 stars Money for old rope...., 4 Mar. 2009
This tv show can only be described as "a retirement home for well past it actors" and the sole purpose seems to be just to give Dick van dyke some extra beer money for his long overdue retirement, and giving his son some easy work.

Having seen this on BBC one accidentally, numerous times (it always on- no matter what time in the afternoon, or day it is) but only shown in the afternoon, as theres no way it would compete to other excellent tv shows that play in the prime-time slot, or even to classic Tv shows shown around the same time.

I think that this programme is too far on in van-dykes career, - by around 40 years, and it's just a re-hash of other detective shows that have been done much better, by others like Columbo,Quincy, Rockford files - but these were done 30-35 years ago, and are timeless classic shows that are endlessly re-watchable, if there was a recent detective series I would recommend over this trash, it would be the excellent "Monk" series, starring the Brilliant Tony shalhoub, or a grittier show such as
law and order - criminal intent. But this should be locked away in the studio vaults, and the key thrown away!
