5.0 out of 5 stars Another cracker from Rendell!, 24 April 2015

I simply had to read this book from beginning to end in one go. That is how a brilliant book grabs you. Buy it if you're a Rendell devotee - you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rendell at her very best!, 18 April 2015

Ruth Rendell continues to amaze me with her seemingly bottomless store of brilliantly constructed and wholly believable plots. You feel that you know the characters, so cleverly does she draw them. A MUST READ!

5.0 out of 5 stars An unexpectedly wonderful and moving book, 26 April 2014

The title gives little clue to the fact that this book is about suffering and forgiveness of those who caused it. It is a powerful reminder that the imposition of suffering can be beyond the control of those inflicting it, and that forgiveness is essential if the hurt is to be healed. A truly great book.

A moving story, although somewhat disappointing in some ways that I won't go into so as not to spoil the story for any potential readers. What I will say is that this is a book infinitely worth reading by anyone who cares about human relationships, and their effect on individual people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rankin at his usual best!, 9 Jan. 2014

Another unputdownable read from one of our foremost crime novelists. The plot is sophisticated, yet believable. All in all, an excellent and exciting read from beginning to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timex Ironkids Youth Black /Silver Fast Wrap Velcro Strap Watch, 3 Jan. 2014

I chose this for my 8 year old grandson's birthday because it boasts a whole host of features that would delight an 8 year old boy who is probably more tech savvy than me. Its adjustable Velcro-fastening strap is just the thing for an 8 year old with thin wrists, and allows for adjustment as he grows up. It should last at least until his mid-teens. He was delighted with it, so I can thoroughly recommend this watch to anyone who wants a 21st century timepiece for a growing boy or girl.

5.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable non-Rebus Edinburgh story from Ian Rankin, 2 Jan. 2014

This review is from: The Complaints (Kindle Edition)
I expected to be disappointed by this book. After all, I thought, an Edinburgh-set crime novel without Rebus couldn't cut the mustard - or could it? Well, it did and what hot mustard it was! A thoroughly enjoyable, book, with its hero, Malcolm Fox previously regarded as a detective so useless that he was moved to the complaints department to get rid of him. Rankin manages to convince us that Fox is, after all, a very competent detective, and a worthy companion to Rebus in Rankin's bibliography - in future books perhaps?

Exit Music (Inspector Rebus Book 17)
Exit Music (Inspector Rebus Book 17)
Price: £4.31

5.0 out of 5 stars Rebus Retires (?), 15 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is one of Rankin's best Rebus books. Rankin's fans will know full well that Rebus's methods are, to say the least, unconventional, yet Rankin is able to convince us that Rebus cares deeply about truth and justice, and he is prepared to use almost any means to obtain them, as long as truth and justice are served. This is a book not just for crime fiction aficionados but for anyone who cares about how we, as human beings and citizens, conduct our day-to-day affairs.

This is the the third Rebus book. Don't know how I missed it when first published as I've been an avid Rebus fan since the first one. An unputdownable book from first to last page. But then you Rebus fans already know that!

As Rankin fans everywhere have come to expect, this is an amazing read. Gripping from cover to cover, it'll show you the real John Rebus as perhaps you've never seen him before. Amazing reading for all Rebus devotees.
