Having been a renaissance fan for a long time, I read the customer reviews of this album and decided to try it. I listened to it and thought 'Hmmm, Okay but not that good' and promptly never played it for a while. I then put it on again and started listening. Then again and again. I couldn't stop playing it. It's an album that grows on you - which are often the most rewarding ( chart music relies on instant gratification which wears off quickly ). This is a delightful album which warrants repeated play to savour the delights it has to offer. Certainly 'Back home...' is excellently done and very catchy. It's a mystery why the delights of the album only surface after a few plays. Strange. Buy this if you are a true music lover. You will not be disappointed. Just don't expect to play it the once to fully appreciate all that it has to offer ....

5.0 out of 5 stars A remarkable album that all true music lovers should own., 6 Nov. 2000

This must rank as one of Corea's truly outstanding creations. I have been listening to this album for 20 years and never tire of it. Why ? Because whilst this album is a lot more accessible than some of Chicks (more abstract) current offerings, there lies beneath a complexity that warrants repeated listening - and rewards those who open their minds and ears to some of the most beautiful multi-layered keyboard/synth renderings you could wish for. Many composers would be happy with the melody alone - but corea compliments them with subtle counter-melodies equally endearing. The album finishes with the outstanding 'Spanish Fantasy'. Twenty minutes of incredible creativity. The verve version is definately worth getting over the Polydor CD release as it has all of the tracks from the original double album ( 'the sky' was left out due to lack of space). As George Michael said, listen without predjudice. Enjoy.
