Very expensive book yet the learning content is very boring.

Reminds me of being back in school, very dull and boring maths examples and a poor way to teach.

It just doesnt have that special something that makes you want to turn the next page with excitement.

I really regret buying this book as its so cold and lacks anything fun.

It starts you off on console applications, then even when you get to the exciting windows stuff its only a checkbox and simple rubbish you get to build, it gets you building and writting boring code and little examples that dont grip you and soon fall asleep.

Now there is a book by Head First called C#. THAT is a book you should learn by, early on it gets you developing software like arcade games, racing games ect all from the start and its gripping, fun and exciting; everything a book should be and its a fraction of the price.

Never again will i buy a book and assume its better just for the price.

Costly mistake.

Stay clear.

An alround great book, introduces the language in a way thats fun and interesting.
Keeps you wanting to turn the next page as opposed to books that talk about boring math examples and put you to sleep like the "Deitel" series of books i spent a fortune on.

The only book head first have not impressed me on is the C# one.
C# is a very complex language and also need to learn .NET, so to fit aall that into a beginners book is a little complex and is too "Manic" and too much happening.

in the title really, waste of time.
you learn some stuff but is mostly examples ... complete waste of cash.

You want some real advice? .. Learn C# instead and buy the booked called "Head First C#" ... you will be coding games and appls in no time at all and the the industry strength programming language so far and has 6 times more jobs out there than VB.

I have spent alot of money on books, courses ect and these series of books are by far the most effective.

They start at the basics and work you through fun and exciting projects that really make you snile .. it ignores all the boring put me to sleep stuff and before you know it you are creating loops, making ganes and so much more.

spent £5,550 on a computing course aimed at programming with VB.NET ... thewy sent me out tons of books aimed at advance users of .NET Framework and didnt have a scooby what the heck it was on about and you got little support .. the company you ask? ... Computeach.

They expect you to be a programmer already and pass exams with 90% before they allow you to do the real thing .. in other words very little students will do this that way they make money by saving on splashing out for exams as they know the tagret is unrealistic.

so i spent 30 quid or so and got this book and now learning to code way past i estimated ... and now have a solid understanding of programming and can now move on to reinforce what i know and start making some real cash out there and land my self a Ferrari F-430! :p

much recommended.
