5.0 out of 5 stars another catchy dance song, 26 Aug 2009
This review is from: LoveGame (MP3 Download)
Lady GaGa, who never fails to release a quirky, fun, dance track, has done it again!
Just as catchy as her other hits, Just Dance and Poker Face, LoveGames is a perfect dance track!
Highly reccommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars a catchy song we can relate to, 26 Aug 2009
This review is from: You Belong With Me (MP3 Download)
You Belong With Me is from Taylor Swift's album, Fearless.
The lyrics are very smart, as always with Taylor Swift!
Young girls in particular can relate to the lyrics, and with a catchy beat, it's a potential number one!

It's a great song, and I'd recccommend it to anyone I know.

Eclipse (Twilight Saga)
Eclipse (Twilight Saga)
by Stephenie Meyer
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £14.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Eclipse, 6 Nov 2008
- The Author -
Stephenie Meyer was born on the 24th of December, 1973. She is an american author who writes for both adults and teenagers. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, after graduating from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, Stephenie Meyer now lives with her husband who she met whilst growing up with her three sons.

- About -
Eclipse is the sequel to New Moon, part of a four part series although there is a fifth book not yet released which is Twilight written in another characters perspective) written by an american international bestseller. First published hardcover in August 2007, it is a young adult book, both a romance book and an adventure book. It continues the story of 17/18 year old Bella (Isabella) Swan who has moved to Forks, Washington, and has fallen in love with vampire, Edward Cullen. In Eclipse, there have been many mysterious murders. It is 629 pages long in the hardcover version.

- Storyline -
In Seattle, there have been many mysterious unsolved murders. The bodies are nowhere to be found and Edward concludes that there is a newborn vampire on the loose, killing as it can't control it's hunger for blood. Bella wants to see Jacob and explains to Edward. Edward isn't very happy, as Jacob is a werewolf and dosen't really want Bella and Jacob to be friends, though he can't stop them. Bella tries to convince him that Jacob of any of the pack would try to hurt her, but Edward still fears for Bellas safety. After a while, Edward let's go and lets Bella visit Jacob, but only if she has her phone on her.

Alice sees Victoria, a vampire that is hunting Bella, is back in town. The Cullens wonder whether Victoria has anything to do with all the murders in Seattle.Things start to get suspicious when Bella goes home to find her pillow and some of her clothes missing.

Bella pushes things with Edward wanting to go further but Edward refuses, saying that he might hurt her. He tells her that it's marriage first, and proposes. Dissapointed, Bella agrees as she realises it is more important to be with Edward forever. Bella is also trying to convince Edward to turn her into a vampire but he still refuses.

The Seattle murders get worse and things get more and more suspicious. The Cullens are soon sure that Victoria is behind but that there is more than one newborn on the loose. And it's Bella who she's planning to kill.

- Price -
Eclipse hardcover is RRP £12.99. It's mostly priced around £8.00 in shops though you could probably get a good deal online with the prequel New Moon, or sequel Breaking Dawn.

- Verdict -
Like New Moon, Eclipse recieved mixed reviews.

I did enjoy the love triangle storyline, the dynamics between Bella, Edward and Jacob were great. Bella loves both Edward and Jacob, and Jacob and Edward both love Bella. In this book, Jacob realises that if he needs to get Bella's love, he needs it know. Otherwise Bella will be turned into a vampire, and there will be no going back. I really liked the way Stephenie Meyer makes subtle hints about it at the beginning, instead of making it completely clear.

In Eclipse, you find out the secrets of Rosalie's and Jasper's transformations into vampires.

Eclipse definetely had a better storyline that New Moon. The storyline in New Moon had loose ends, but at the same time, it was excellently written. But although the storyline was better in eclipse, the actual writing wasn't. It failed to keep me as hooked as Twilight and New Moon did, and I wasn't that bothered about it.

Despite the negative critisism I've made, I do still believe that Eclipse is a wonderful book. There is a lot more action than there was in New Moon. And although I admit that it was my least favourite book from the Twilight series, it was still entertaining and a good read with a lot attention to detail and careful styling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Catch Em All!, 5 Nov 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Pokémon :o)

As a younger child I used to love playing Pokémon on my fatty Game Boy and Game Boy Advance! And at 19 (shh!) I still do!

So almost everyone has played Pokémon before or even seen the cartoon that was shown on TV years ago (yes, I watched that too!). and I'm sure everyone knows what the whole Pokémon fantasy is, and the Storyline.

- The Pokémon History! -
Pokémon was first released in Japan for the Game Boy all the way back in 1996. There have now been 100s of million sales of the Pokémon franchise. Originally in Pokémon, you played a young boy (you could pick his name) who was sent by a Pokémon Professor who was trying to learn about all of the Pokémon in the region you are in. Somehow you will receive your very first Pokémon from the Professor as well as a Pokedex which record information about each Pokémon you catch. I say somehow because in each different game (Pokémon Red, Blue, Green etc.), there are slight variations such as the professor's names, an evil teams name (Team Rocket, Teams Magma and Aqua, and Team Galactic), and how you receive your Pokémon.

You have a choice of three for your starter Pokémon. They are three different types, Fire, Water and Leaf. Each different type of Pokémon (such as fire, water and leaf) has a different effect on a different type of Pokémon when battling. For example, water Pokémon have a very damaging effect on fire Pokémon, fire Pokémon have a very damaging effect of leaf Pokémon and electric Pokémon have no effect on ground Pokémon. Classically, there are 17 different types of Pokémon, but as I said, there are some variations throughout the games.

Anyway back to your starter Pokémon, after you have picked your starter Pokémon, you will have a friend (you also get to pick his name) who is also working on the Pokedex who will pick the stronger type of Pokémon against your chosen Pokémon (so if you picked a fire Pokémon, your rival would pick water). You will meet your rival several times throughout the game and he will always seem to beat you.

After you have got your starter Pokémon, you will be able to catch other Pokémon using Poke balls whose data will be recorded on your Pokedex. There are two aims of the game, to collect all the Pokémon in your region, and to complete all the gyms which are in each town, then to complete to Pokémon league (which consists of the region's Elite Four and the Pokémon Champion). In the first few Pokémon games, after completing the Pokémon league, the credits are rolled and that is the end. However on the newer games such as Pokémon Diamond, you can carry on playing, doing extra challenges.

The last thing I'll say about Pokémon is the Pokémon Gyms. Altogether there are 8 Pokémon Gyms. The Pokémon Gyms are situated in a different town. In the Pokémon Gyms you must defeat the Gym Leader who has a reputation of being a great Pokémon trainer. In each Pokémon Gym, the Gym Leader will own and specialise one certain different type of Pokémon. After defeating the Gym Leader you will receive a Gym Badge. This lets you use a "HM" which is a move for your Pokémon but also a special power that can be used outside of battle. After you have each Gym Badge, you can battle the Elite 4 and Pokémon Champion. These are the best Pokémon Trainers in the whole region.

- Pokémon Diamond -
I think I've said enough about the Pokémon series now, so know I'll get on with the game!

Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl are the joint fourth generation of the Pokémon series.

Set in the region of Sinnoh, in Pokémon Diamond you must find and catch each Pokémon possible (there are 493 altogether) as well as destroying Team Galactic, the criminal syndicates of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. Team Galactic plan to create a new world order and you must stop them!

The game starts with Professor Rowan telling you all about the world of Pokémon. Traditionally, in Pokémon you could only play a boy but in Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, have a choice of being a boy or girl. After picking your name (and sex), you be shown your friend who is your Pokémon rival. He will be the opposite sex of you and you will pick his name.

After that you are in your house in Twinleaf town. You will go downstairs to find your mother watching a television documentary about the rare Red Gyarados that had been spotted at Johto's Lake of Rage. Your mother then tells you to visit your friend (the boy or girl who's name you picked at the very beggining of the game) so you do so. Then your friend and you go to a lake just outside your town hoping to see Red Gyarados. Whilst you are there, you see Professor Rowan and his assistant (who will be either a girl, Dawn, or a boy, Lucas depending on your sex) talking at the lake. They leave, leaving behind a case in the wild grass. Your friend convinces you to go into the grass although you are not sure it will be safe because of wild Pokémon. And just as you reach the case, a wild Pokémon appears (two actually)! Panicked, you open the case to find three Poke balls. After picking your Poke ball you must battle the wild Pokémon with your chosen Pokémon. Just as you've defeated the Pokémon, Professor Rowan's assistant comes out, noticing you have used the Pokémon. Later, after speaking to Professor Rowan you get to keep the Pokémon as Professor Rowan has seen that your chosen Pokémon is very fond of you. This is where your adventure begins!!

You will then go on to battle the Gym Leaders and Team Galactic, as well as some other extra missions.

- Glitches -
In the Japanese version of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, there were various glitches found. However, most of these glitches were fixed by Nintendo, and the European versions of the games seem fine.

- New Features -
In my opinion, there weren't as many new features as I would have liked. The new features include, playing multiplayer as well as online multiplayer. To play in multi-player, there is an underground area beneath Sinnoh. In multi-player, mini games can be played as well as making secret bases (secret bases have been in various other Pokémon games, it is a secret home that you can decorate). You can play online using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in which you can trade, battle and communicate through voice chat online.

- Price -
As Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl are joint, the two games can be bought both together and separately. Both Pokemon Pearl and Pokemon Diamond are RRP £29.99. However, it can be bought cheaper although the cheapest you can find them (separately) is for about £20.00, so the discount isn't that large. To buy them together (although it is hard to find the set together) it is RRP £59.98 though I managed to get it at £48.00 on Amazon, late last year.

- Graphics -
Just like in the old Pokemon games, the games graphics are 2D. However, from playing all of the other Pokemon games I have noticed that the colours are brighter and that there are some 3D effects in the background of the game.

- Audio -
In each different town there will be different background music. Each town has it's own sort of theme, for example, in Floaroma Town, which is the flower paradise, the music is very sweet and floral. The music for each town is quite catchy. There is also music during a Pokemon battle. There is background music which is full of action as well as the Pokemon who make sound effects when they make a move. In battle, in my opinion the music gets quite annoying and I have to turn it off!

- Critics Opinion -
Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl was given very high praise. The lowest score Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl was given was 81%.

- Verdict -
Although there were not as many new features as I would have liked Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl are both excellent games. There is a lot to do to keep you entertained, and the storylines keep you hooked. I would highly recommend both Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breaking Dawn, 5 Nov 2008
!Because so much happens in Breaking Dawn, this review man contain some major spoilers. Please don't read it if you plan or are currently reading a prequel to this book, this review would probably ruin it!

- About -
Breaking Dawn is the last book in the Twilight four book series(although there is a fifth book not yet released which is Twilight written in another characters perspective) written by american international bestseller, Stephenie Meyer. First published hardcover in August 2008, 1.3 million were sold in the first 24 hours of its release breaking the record. It continues the story of 17/18 year old Bella (Isabella) Swan who has moved to Forks, Washington, and has fallen in love with vampire, Edward Cullen. Breaking Dawn is split into three books, the first and last written in Bella's perspective, the 2nd in werewolf Jacob Black's perspective. It is the longest of all four twilight books at 758 pages. Although the first of the series Twilight, has been made in to a film, there have been no plans to make Breaking Dawn in to a film as it would be too hard. If you want to read Breaking Dawn, you must read the first three so you know what has been going on.

- Storyline -
Bella has to become a vampire - and soon - or the Volturi will kill her. That has been made very clear.

The first story, which is written in Bella's point of view, is about Bella and Edward's marriage and honeymoon. Bella finally gets what she wanted which is for Edward to make love to her. But soon afterwards, Bella realizes she is pregnant, and calls Carlisle who tells them they must come home. Edward wants her to have an abortion but Bella refuses, and turns to Rosalie who supports her as she has always wanted a child.

The next part of the story is written in werewolf Jacob Black's point of view. This part of the story tells Bella's pregnancy and childbirth. When the pack (of werewolves) find out that Bella is pregnant, fearing the baby is going to be a vampire and "immortal child", they plan to destroy the baby, even if Bella dies too. But as Jacob loves her, he leaves the pack and instead helps protect the Cullens from the pack. Soon Seth and Leah Clearwater leave the pack too,and help protect the Cullens and Bella. Slowly, Bella becomes very weak. Her ribs start breaking and she loses a lot of blood. Carlisle fears for her life but when Jacob points out the obvious, Carlisle manages too fix the problem. Soon after, Bella manages to give birth to her daughter, Renesmee, a name which is a mix between both her mothers' and mother in laws' names'. But Jacob makes a shock discovery when he sets eyes on Renesmee..

The last part of the book goes back to Bella's perspective. Bella is finally a vampire and stronger than ever. However, the Volturi find out about Renesmee and like the werewolves fear Renesmee is an "immortal child". The Volturi plan to kill Renesmee. Meanwhile, Bella tries to get used to her life as a vampire, learning to hunt and resist herself when with humans such as her father, Charlie. When Alice has a vision of the Volturi coming to kill Renesmee as well as all of the Cullens, the Cullens prepare for a fight, gathering other covens for support. Bella discoversthat like Edward, Alice and Jasper, she has a power. Can the Cullens win against the Volturi, or will they all be destroyed?

- Price -
Breaking Dawn can currently only be bought hardcover. Priced at RRP £12.99, as it is fairly new, it can't be found that cheaply, £8.99 is probably the cheapest I've seen it.

- Critisism -
Unlike New Moon and Eclipse, Breaking Dawn got mostly very positive reviews. However, the odd few complained about the childbirth chapter and the final few chapters. However I don't think any of these things had a problem, I particulary liked the final few chapters. In my personal opinion though, the ending was to happy!!

- Vercict -
I would very highly reccomend Breaking Dawn.

Near the end it all got a little too confusing but that was problem solved with an index at the back of the book!

Stephenie Meyer did a great job in tying up the myriad storylines from the whole sage. Now, she is able to write a (or a few) spinoffs as she has left the door open for one. The detail and talent Stephenie Meyer must have is huge! All four Twilight books were outstanding in the actual writing points.

Many critics have complained about the character of Bella. In alll four books, Bella has been portrayed as a weak girl who lives to serve men and suffer. She always has a man to save her. She is also shown as an incredibly selfish woman and she becomes annoyingly whiny, although when I think about it, she does seem very concerned about how her actions affect Edward, Jacob and the other characters. She does need to care more about herself though.

I can't find any real faults in the book and it is either this book of Twilight that is my favourite book I've eve read!

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, after graduating from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, Stephenie Meyer now lives with her husband who she met whilst growing up with her three sons.

- About -
New Moon is the sequel to Twilight, an american international bestseller which is part of a four book series (although there is a fifth book not yet realeased which is Twilight written in another characters perspective). First published hardcover in October 2005, it is a young adult book, both a romance book and an adventure book. It continues the story of 17/18 year old Bella (Isabella) Swan who has moved to Forks, Washington, and has fallen in love with vampire, Edward Cullen. New Moon is about losing true love. It is 608 pages long in both the hardcover and paperback version.

- Storyline -
New Moon starts with Bella's surprise eighteenth birthday party at The Cullen's house, thrown by Alice and Edward. Whilst opening her present from Edward and Alice, Bella gets a paper cut. Jasper, who finds it the hardest to live on a non-human blood diet, cannot control himself and tries to attack Bella. Luckily Bella dosen't get seriously hurt.

Edward and his family leave Forks, trying to protect Bella from the dangerous vampire world. Bella becomes very depressed and goes to La Push to see Jacob Black, an old family friend. Bella finds that when she is around him, she isn't as depressed so she goes to see him almost every night. Consequently Bella and Jacob grow very close. Bella starts takes up dangerous hobbies such as motorcycle riding as she hears Edward's voice when she does something dangerous. After seeing a group of boys cliff-diving, Bella wants to try it, but Jacob manages to distract her from it for a while.

Jacob soon sees some strange behavior from Sam, a boy a little older than himself. Then his close friend Embry turns strange, not talking to Jacob and always hanging around Sam and his friends.

Soon enough, Jacob dosen't want to see Bella anymore and won't talk to her. One day Bella begs him what is wrong and he tells her that he cannot tell her. Then he tells her to think about the first time they met eachother at the beach and about a storyhe told her. He tells her that the answer is in the story and that she has to figure it out herself.

Bella eventually figures out about Jacob and it changes everything. Meanwhile, Alice, Edward's sister who has a gift of seeing the future, sees an image which brings her back to Forks. Soon, Bella and Alice find themselves chasing time to save a life.

- Price -
New Moon paperback is RRP £6.99 though it is sold online and in book shops quite cheaply. I bought it on amazon for £3.98 free delivery so it was quite cheap. Hardcover is RRP £12.99, but again it can be found cheaper.

- Verdict -
Although I don't think this book was as good as it's prequel, Twilight, I still found it to be very exciting and I couldn't put it down.

However, New Moon got quite a bit of critisism, as "Bella, happens to be the weakest character in the story and the most annoying..." and also that some of the storyline was a bit uneven. However, it still got the #1 position on the New York Times Bestseller List for Children's Chapter Books and remained in that spot for 11 weeks. It spent over 30 weeks in total on the list.

In New Moon, Bella is portrayed as a selfish user who seemed to only be able to exist with the help of a man in her life. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but the book made made me really start to dislike Bella.

Whilst reading New Moon, I throughly enjoyed it, but when I look back, I really don't think it was that great. Actually, it was nowhere near as good as Twilight. New Moon was much too long, the same problem as in Twilight. Like I said, it wasgreat at the time I was reading it but when I re-read it, it just didn't hit the spot. It should have been cut down so that it didn't drag on. This would have made it a very good book.

Although I did criticise New Moon a lot, I do think it is worth reading. The first time I read it was impossible to put it down but after that, I really wasn't bothered. Maybe it would be better if you lended this book from the Librar instead.

Twilight is an american international bestseller which is the first book of a four book series (although there is a fifth book not yet realeased which is Twilight written in another characters perspective). First published hardcover in October 2005, it is a young adult book, both a romance book and an adventure book. It tells the story of 17 year old Bella (Isabella) Swan who moves to Forks, Washington, from Phoenix, Arizona, to live with her father, Charlie so her mother, Renee, can travel with her new, young husband, Phil Dwyer, who is a minor league baseball player. It was made into a movie during the winter and spring of 2008, and is to be released later this year on December the 19th.

- Storyline -
At school, Bella didn't really get any attention in Phoenix and is surprised at the attention she recieves off her fellow class mates, mostly Eric Yorkie and Mike Newton who are competing to impress her. She makes two friends on her first day, Angela and Jessica who she likes.

At lunch in the canteen, Bella spots five interesting and beautiful people sitting together. In biology, as there are no other seats, she sits by one of the people she saw at lunch, Edward Cullen. Bella is shocked when Edward seems to hate her, glaring at her and moving as far as way as he can get from her. But soon he's friendly chatting t her like nothing had happened! His attitude leaves her completely puzzled about his attitude towards her.

Then, one cold and icey morning, Bella has a very near death experience which Edward manages to save her from although he is nowhere near her.

One day, Bella goes to the beach with her fellow classmates. Bella meets Charlie's (Bella's Father) best friends (Billy Black) son, Jacob Black. Soon , Bella tricks Jacob into telling her the local tribal legends. She concludes that the Cullens are Vampires.

It isn't long before Edward and Bella fall in love. But their happy relationship is soon threatened and it isn't just her own life that is in danger.

- Price -
The paperback version of Twilight is RRP £6.99 though it can be found a lot cheaper online and in book shops. I've seen it as cheap as £2.99 in tesco!

- Verdict -
Twilight is a very well written book which kept me hooked all the way through. I never wanted to put it down! It changes your view on vampires, when you are younger you are told vampires are evil characters that try to kill you. In Twilight though, vampirism seems almost glamorous as they have their amazing superhero , powers as well as being the heros. I do believe that Edward's portrayal as monstrous tragic hero is a little over-rated like other critics have said. But I do love the portrayal of dangerous lovers who are taking a huge risk, it is perfectly written, and it dosen't go over the top with it!

Twilight is dark, romantic, and mysterious. It starts out a little too slow, but as the book goes along the plot thickens and the book gets a lot better!

It was a very long book at 544 pages (paperback only) and I do believe it was a little to long. I feel like the first two thirds of the book was one book and the last third another. The first two thirds of the book was a romance book whilst after that it is more an action book. Although it dosen't really drag on, and it is a very interesting read, I do feel that a little to much was going on at once, so it was hard to remember everything that you need to know.

In Twilight there is a LOT of detail. Whether that is a good or bad thing, you decide. Edward's beauty is described much to much, everytime he's in a scene his beauty is described. It did get quite annoying. Also, I can't see any teenagers using "Holy Crow!" when they have an accident!

However, all the same it was still an excellent read! After I read it I knew I had to read the sequel (New Moon). With a great storyline and great ending, it is definetely one of my favourite books. Ever!
