Minox: Marvel in Minature: Marvel in Miniature
Minox: Marvel in Minature: Marvel in Miniature
by D. Scott Young
Edition: Paperback
Price: 13.86

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book but lacking here and there, 8 Nov 2011
3 1/2 Stars! I think it is a good book, well written by a truly dedicated Minox camera fan. I really enjoyed reading it. If you are a collector that is interested in many Camera types and Minox is just of many you want to read up on, the book is all you need.

I deducted 1 1/2 stars as there are two slightly more professionally written Minox camera books out there. However one of them , the "Minox 8x11" book is hopelessly overpriced and I would not recommend spending that kind of money when you just want to causally read about the Minox camera. The second and more affordable book is Spycamera: Minox Story by Moses and Wade. This -if priced identically- is a good or even better book then Minox Marvel in Miniature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly good for a 87year old movie, 8 Nov 2011
I think this is a must have! While I am always skeptical of the quality of early movies, this one despite being a silent movie tops my personal chart of classic movies. It is so amazing to watch how they nearly 90 years ago constructed the screenplay build the stage settings and how they filmed it all. Including all these special effects. The underwater scene is one of numerous awesome highlights. A true gem which will never get old. Sadly the print is not fully complete and later film reels are visibly in poor condition. Nevertheless its still a beauty to watch

4.0 out of 5 stars Best minox book for a good price, 8 Nov 2011
This review is from: Spycamara: Minox Story (Hardcover)
This book has surprised me. While it is a lot cheaper than other Minox camera books, it is packed full of information and illustrations. It doesnt even have to fear the classic Minox reference book "Minox 8x11" which by the way is far too overpriced. I think this book is one of the best english Minox books around. Definately worth buying if you like the little cameras

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book - absolutely overpriced, 8 Nov 2011
This book is a must have for Minox fans around the world. The author has spend a considerable time researching origin and development of this little camera, and presents it beautifully over more than 200 pages. Especially the numerous large illustrations make this book a must buy. I give the book 4 stars as it is sadly overpriced, else for sure, I would have given it 5 stars

There are however 2 books you should consider:

"Spycamara: Minox Story" by Morris Moses and John Wade. It is much cheaper and equally excellent.
"Minox"[japanese] by Masaharu Saito. It focuses far more on how the cameras work and is a must have. Sadly its not written in english so you have to translate it yourself, thus I recommend it only truly fanatic Minox fans

2.0 out of 5 stars Not greatly presented for beginners!!!, 5 Mar 2010
I agree with a previous review made here. The audio and book do not correlate. I was also very confused when I borrow this course. However the principle how the course teaches does work and is good as well. Its very comprehensive and you will learn hindi eventually. However you can do this a lot easier. Check the living language Hindi course. It also starts with the script and teaches you from the very first and brings you rapidly to where you want to be. I think learning with this book is unnecessarily difficult and as a beginner unnecessary difficulty is offputting. Langauge learning should be fun not a task
