Vastly Overrated, 13 July 2005
Coldplay's latest album "X&Y" has recieved rave reviews from many so-called "experts", many of whom said it put Coldplay up there with U2 and the likes. After listening to this extremly mediocre and safe album, I cannot help but wonder why? I have listened to the album 3 times, hoping to find the reason for all the hype. I do not intend to listen to it again. Unlike U2's recent "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" which offered up many memrable songs, this album offers little. It is an extremly pedestrian album with little in the way of stand out songs. Chris Martin's drab singing flows along without offering anything special. Coldplay have labelled the great British rock hope, if that is the cas I fear for British rock!
