3.0 out of 5 stars A slim title suitable for 2-3 year old, 16 Nov 2012

This review is from: Superworm (Hardcover)
I'd bought this sight-unseen as a birthday present for a 4 year old, but found it more suitable for a younger child, say a 2-3 year old. A simple story in a slim volume, with rather muddy colours in the packed drawings (suitable for a worm!) and very few words.

Eco-Friendly Reusable Foldable Shopping Tote Bag with Clip On Pouch - Navy Blue Vintage Butterfly Print
Eco-Friendly Reusable Foldable Shopping Tote Bag with Clip On Pouch - Navy Blue Vintage Butterfly Print

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, practical & pretty too, 5 Sep 2012

Strong construction, as the bag & its handles are made out of the same piece of material - hence no possibility of the handles tearing away from an over-loaded bag! Pretty design, a little darker than the picture. One thing that surprised me is that the containing pouch is completely separate from the bag, rather than a fold-in-on-itself design. The pouch has a clip on one end so it can be attached to a larger shopper or a keyring etc; the shopping tote pops out from the other end of the pouch so it's not necessary to unclip the pouch to get at it. Folded size excluding the clip is approx 4 x 2.5 inches (10 x 6 cm). All in all a clever design and very handy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine except for the itchy label, 18 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent white Fashy hot water bottle, covered in a soft warm cotton that's fitted high enough around the neck to cover up the bottle's fold-up integrated hanger. The cover has an elasticated neck so it's easy to remove and clean. It loses a star because the small orange Fashy label is surprisingly stiff and itchy and has a tendency to stick into me no matter which way I'm laying!

5.0 out of 5 stars Indulgent luxury, 18 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's a daft price to pay for a hot water bottle, but I've not regretted buying this one for an instant. With a couple of weeks of bedrest due, I wanted to treat myself to something that was both indulgent and comforting. This well designed, baby-soft luxurious cover and Fashy bottle ticked all the boxes. It's deep red on one side and deep orange on the other, cut to fit perfectly over a cream bottle. It even has pop-studs at the top to securely hide the neck and its uncomfortable fold-up hanger, so that the whole bottle becomes one sleek soft whole. Quite yummy and definitely made me feel a lot better about lying around in bed! Like all covered bottles, it doesn't radiate as much heat as an uncovered one, but it's safer (not so likely to scald) and sooooo comfortable! When winter comes I plan to ditch my old uncomfortable bottles and treat myself to another of these Elvang items, either in grey/anthracite Elvang Hot Water Bottle with baby-Alpaca-Cover or purple/black Elvang Hot Water Bottle with baby-Alpaca-Cover. I think one of these would make a good present for an invalid or someone who feels the cold in bed - so long as they're likely to appreciate the vast difference in quality between soft short-nap Alpaca wool and cheap synthetic fleece!

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic little iBud, 18 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I prefer to keep one ear free to stay aware of the world when I'm out & about, so this little iBud device is ideal. (So much neater than walking around with a dangling second earphone!) Excellent sound reproduction, with a neat volume control that can drop the sound to zero if needed. Total cable length is approx 3'5" / 104cm. The volume control wheel is situated 2'/60cm down the cable, so for a 5'4" shorty like me it sits at about abdomen height. It took me a while to get used to the standard big earbud, but once it's firmly in place it's comfortable and doesn't drop out easily. All in all a great product at a good price. Personally I'd like to see a version without the volume control, so I can wear the cable under my sweater without showing a funny bump!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stereo rockpool bliss, 7 April 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A beautifully clear stereo recording of very gentle waves as they gurgle, crash, dribble and swell their way into rocky tide pools and inlets. In the far distance is the call of sea birds and the dim boom of the ocean. Close up is the never-ending, always-varying sound of the water as it reaches the shoreline and ebbs and flows into the rock pools, with an occasional sweet drag across pebbles.

Stunningly good both on headphones and speakers. So close you can shut your eyes and imagine dipping your feet into the cool water. A lovely multi-layered recording, useful both for general relaxing and for drifting off to sleep. (Probably goes without saying that this is one of my Top 3 'Ocean' tracks, the others being: Surf On Sand and Ocean Waves and Rain: Relaxing Sounds of Nature.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Ah! Lush tropical night rain, 6 April 2011

This review is from: Tropical Night (MP3 Download)
This track conjures up memories of sitting at night near a tropical beach. In the background is the gentle lapping night-time ocean with the persistent chirruping of cicadas in the trees. Close at hand comes the splash of raindrops, which build very gradually into a light tropical shower, splattering on the vegetation and creating rivulets of water as it runs away. As the rain dies down other insects start up, then we're back to just the quiet ocean, those never-ending cicadas, and the drip of raindrops. About half-way through the track the rain starts up and round we go again.

It's a warm, soft, quiet, tranquil track - perfect for playing during a balmy summer night. It loses 1 star from me because the sound level is substantially lower than other tracks from Natural Sounds, and the sound balance isn't perfect: the rain is so close to hand that the non-raining segments are very quiet indeed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thar She Blows!, 6 April 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This Healing Sounds track is very similar to its smaller brother Ocean Waves and Rain: Relaxing Sounds of Nature but with an additional Wind track overlaid onto it. The effect on headphones isn't that impressive (the different tracks are clearly overlaid, and the wind isn't that obvious). But listen to it on speakers and the whole thing comes alive.

The ocean's quite rough, pounding onto the shore, and the rain and wind help make this piece very vivid and strong. It's the sort of thing you might want to snuggle down and listen to after the Shipping Forecast, meanwhile thanking your lucky stars that you're not out on a night like this! Turn the volume down, though, and it's surprisingly effective as a relaxing, enveloping track. Not quite as good as 'Ocean Waves and Rain' for dozing off to sleep, as here the sea is a bit muffled, but an interesting, multi-layered track nonetheless which delivers just what it says in the title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Asleep in 5...4...3...2..., 6 April 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I'd tried out several 'Ocean' soundtracks to help get me off to sleep but had no luck until I found this one. 'Ocean Waves and Rain' pushes all the right buttons for me.

Listen to it on earphones and it's pretty obvious that this is a waters-edge recording of a pretty frisky ocean, overlaid with a track of steady rain. Interesting, but not that impressive. But let it play through an MP3/iPod speaker [I use the excellent Sony XDRDS12IP iPod/iPhone Speaker Dock with Clock Radio Function] and the two tracks merge into a wonderful multi-layered soundscape where no individual track dominates. It's interesting enough to divert my attention from the usual thoughts & worries that stop me from sleeping. And I find it very enfolding and relaxing, as the overlays of rain and crashing ocean mask street noise etc.

The first time I played this I was asleep within 5 minutes (astonishing for me!), and 1 month on it has the same wonderfully soothing, soporific effect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wet and tranquil, 6 April 2011

This review is from: Forest Raindrops (MP3 Download)
A clear, well-recorded track of rain falling through trees, with a background of birdsong, insects and running water somewhere nearby.

Very relaxing and peaceful as the wildlife noises are very quiet (nothing sudden or startling). The dominant sound is of the gentle rain falling, sometimes louder and sometimes softer, through vegetation. An interesting listen, particularly on headphones.
