5.0 out of 5 stars Who need time travel when these prints are so realistic?, 23 Mar 2013
This image of a Cuadrilla well pad is so much nicer than the real thing - no fugitive methane emissions, no risk of polluting the groundwater, no chance of it causing any earth tremors. This really does prove fracking can be done safely - at least on paper.

It is very realistic though so you could stick several of these over the windows in your house, cover any remaining windows in prints of 18 wheeler trucks, turn on an electric drill, inhale a bit of gas, shut your eyes and make believe that you are in the Fylde of 2016.

You could even send one of these to George Osborne as a gift to complement his "People of the Fylde" toilet paper.

5.0 out of 5 stars A balanced and clear assessment of the state of fracking in the UK, 5 Mar 2013
This review is from: Fracking The UK (Kindle Edition)
Fracking (Shale Gas Extraction by Hydraulic Fracturing) is a subject which is grabbing more and more media attention by the day. It is surrounded by complicated scientific, environmental and emotional arguments.

In "Fracking the UK" Alan Tootill pulls together the history of the subject, analyses the current situation and looks at possible future developments with a sure-footed style which encourages you to persevere when the subject matter gets challenging. If you are new to the subject and are looking for a primer this book is a must-read. For those who are already knowledgeable you will find a wealth of relevant material with the arguments laid out in a logical and clear fashion. I am full of respect for the depth of the author's research and his clear analysis of a very complicated subject.

If you read just one book on fracking this year make it this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Refurb bargain, 3 Oct 2011
I bought this as a refurbished model at a bargain price (79.99). It arrived promptly and there isn't a scratch on it. An excellent deal. If only they'd make sharing an account with my wife easier I'd be over the moon. she really would prefer me not to be sending all HER money :-) Oh yes - and if you could sell your kindle books second hand that would be better too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Save yourself a fortune!, 22 Sep 2011
Fast delivery - easy to install and about 300 less than buying from Apple. I would suggest making sure you have a GOOD set of precision screwdrivers as the screws in the Macbook are quite tight and small and you don't want to wreck the tops and find you can't get the back off! You can get a set for about a fiver on here - wish I had done as it would have saved me a walk to the shops later :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars Pity it was broken, 20 July 2010
Bought this for my son. Unpacked it on day 1 of holiday to find it was broken. Huge disappointment on son's 11 year old face. Still better than having it break underwater I suppose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dont want it to end!, 26 April 2007
I am half way through this having picked it up after giving up with another book two nights ago. I am absolutely gripped by it and am trying to slow down so I don't have to stop reading it!!!

I'm not a great fan of the Kathy Reichs / Patricia Cornwell autopsy style stuff but this is in a different league - pacey, exciting and full of little twists. Buy it now!

No idea how it finishes - It may be a huge disappointment of course ;-)
