3.0 out of 5 stars False advertising!, 11 Aug 2005
This review is from: The 18th Day (Audio CD)
Freedom is not on here! This is my favourite Estelle track!!
Some of the other tracks are good (see Change is Coming and Hey Girl with John Legend) but there is a bit too much soul - albeit some of it very good - at the end of the album. I am more of a hip hop fan and did not expect so much soul, especially at the end. Her singing is good but don't enjoy out n out pop tracks (see Go Gone) Well done to Estelle though, she comes from a scene where not many people can achieve the success and acceptance she has - it's good to see someone doing things like Band Aid with talented mainstream artists.
I am very disappointed in amazon for sending me something that doesn't have the track I wanted on there - I know I could have returned it but I shouldn't have to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless classic from 95, 11 Aug 2005
Ol' Dirty is not the best MC but one of the funniest. Most of the beats are by RZA and they doesn't disappoint here, some of his best basslines are scattered amongs this enjoyable CD which is enjoyable from start to finish.
Many core clan members show up to drop verses - GZA, Raekwon, RZA, Meth, Ghostface, Masta Killa. Killah Priest and more show up on the posse cut Proteck Ya Neck II The Zoo.
All of the above makes this one of the best Wu albums, Shimmy Shimmy Ya & Brooklyn Zoo are hip hop classics making this into a monumental hip hop album. If you haven't heard it give a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars You thought it would lack production? Guess again, 26 Oct 2004
The beats are superb on this. I really couldn't give this 4 stars, it wouldn't be accurate.
Gift of Gab doesn't miss on his solo. Armed with that tongue twisting flow of Blackalicious fame and another dope MC in Vursatyl Gab rips thru these tracks the way hip hop should be done. With no bullsh*t!
Just Because is my favourite track but there are 4 or 5 more on the same level. You couldn't ask for much from the beats. One track I skip and that's Flashback, and that's because it reminds me of Mase's 'Welcome Back'.

5.0 out of 5 stars WAKE UP!, 22 Oct 2004
This review is from: One Am (Audio CD)
DI's flow is amazing. No bullsh*t bling/violent lyrics, great vocabulary. The production is even better (RJD2 does some lovely tracks here). Guests include Jean Grae & Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox
Do not sleep on this real hip hop fans.
A lot of people in the uk have never even heard of him but he really does deserve more recognition. What are you waiting for!?!
