Stranglers in the Night is the first post Cornwell Album. This is an excellent and solid bunch of songs that's instantly enjoyable and relistenabe. It may not be up there with the punky craziness of earlier recordings like Rattus Norvegicus, but it's still top 10 out of 10 music. Recommended.

Daredevil: Cruel And Unusual
Daredevil: Cruel And Unusual
by Ed Brubaker
Edition: Paperback
Price: £10.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Punching Powerman, 3 May 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Cruel and Unusual is a Daredevil story that you can almost read as a gripping stand alone story, although it is dragged down by Matt Murdochs guilt over various loves of his life that he hasn't been able to save. This is however an important part of his character, but I would have prefered less of the gloom. The plot is an interesting one involving an inmate on death row, and the art is very well done and fits the mood of the story. Not an essential book but a good solid one that either fills a gap in your collection or can be read on its's own with only slight connections to past Daredevil stories or the Marvel Universe. Powerman, Luke Cage does appear in an amusing scene

5.0 out of 5 stars Newman, Sarandon, Hackman,Garner, Wetherspoon, Schreiber, 3 May 2015
This review is from: Twilight [1997] [DVD] (DVD)
Twilight is a brilliantly made and acted movie. From the opening scenes you know it's going to be a well crafted watch. The film is like an old Humphrey Bogart film noir (like The Big Sleep), but it also reminded me of the excellent Tom Selleck series Magnum P.I.. Paul Newman is the main star here with Sarandon playing the Femme Fatale. Gene Hackman is solid and there is also significant roles for James Garner, Reese Wetherspoon and Liev Schreiber. The film is short at 91mins, but is satisfying throughout.

3.0 out of 5 stars Battle for the Planet of the Apes reimagined., 29 Jan. 2015
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is enjoyable enough, with good effects. However the viewer would do better to watch the original movies as this film is largely based on the 70's film Battle for the Planet of the Apes, which although made on a much lower budget than this new Apes film is much better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Watch the Earlier Jack Ryan films, but not this., 29 Jan. 2015
Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit is a poor movie. Badly Cast(awful Jack Ryan), badly acted(especially Keira Knightley), bad Story, bad Script, just about all of it bad. The earlier Jack Ryan films are far superior. Even The Sum of All Fears film is ten times better than this nonsense. Hopefully there won't be another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreamy, 10 Jan. 2015
This review is from: Under Milk Wood [DVD] [1972] (DVD)
Under Milk Wood is a superb original and Imaginative film that deserves to be seen by lovers of films. It doesn't tell a story as such but just shows us a community and it's dreams. Takes a little getting used to but is very good. My only warning is that if you're getting the DVD for Elizabeth Taylor, that She's barely in five minutes of the film.

Oldboy [DVD]

1.0 out of 5 stars Good beginning, becomes nonsense, 10 Jan. 2015
This review is from: Oldboy [DVD] (DVD)
I was enjoying Oldboy for over thirty minutes or so and I thought that this is a good film and the only thing that can make it bad will be if the motives of the people behind the central characters capture doesn't make sense. Sadly I was wrong. Long before we discover the reasons behind the elaborate set up, the film becomes a load of nonsense, with ridiculous and unbelievable fight scenes and a unconvincing love interest. The love interest does link to the final twist, but this ultimately leads to even bigger plot holes. Spike Lee has made some great films like Do the Right Thing and Jungle Fever, and the more recent Inside Man was excellent, sadly Oldboy is very poor and not worth a watch for any reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peri!!!, 6 Jan. 2015
The Trial of a Time Lord -The most epic Doctor Who story ever made. Featuring my favouite doctor in Colin Baker and my favourite companion in Peri played by Nicola Bryant. There's also the return of Sil and the introduction of Bonnie Langford. I must admit i'd have prefered Peri to have been in it throughout but she has an interesting and shocking final story in which Brian Blessed is very involved. This series also has the best version of the Who theme. Shame Colin Baker didn't continue beyond this as he clearly loved being the Doctor, even if he was dressed in the most over the top outfit of any Doctor. Quality extras as always. If you love this era, like me, and previous stories like Vengeance on Varos and Attack of the Cybermen then you should love this.
