This review is from: The Shack (Paperback)
This book helps make sense of suffering - always one of the biggest stumbling books for me in the question of faith. If God controls the events of our lives, why would he allow such terrible events to take place in them? The book approaches that question in a really original way. The book also challenges a lot of the traditional ideas about God, and forces the reader to re-evaluate what we take for granted. This book was a real wake call for me, forcing me to look at God and the world in a different way. It's worth reading it together with Steve Taylor's Out of the Darkness: From Turmoil to Transformation - a book which I found really fascinating and thought-provoking because it also shows very clearly that suffering and turmoil can ultimately lead to deep spiritual transformation, and so do have a purpose.
