THERE ARE MANY WORDS TO DESCRIBE THIS BAND, AWESOME, UNRELENTING, OUTSTANDING, BALL-BREAKINGLY HEAVY, BASICALLY JUST GOODAMN MAGNIFICENT!!! THEIR THIRD STUDIO ALBUM GIVES US A REMINDER JUST WOT THE HEAVY METAL SCENE IS MISSING RIGHT NOW!! THIS YEAR HAS ALREADY SEEN MACHINE HEAD RELEASING THE TOP ALBUM OF 2007, SURELY 'THE LAST KIND WORDS' IS GOING TO BE UP THERE!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BLACKENING HAS BEGUN!!!!!!!!!!, 26 April 2007
This review is from: The Blackening (Audio CD)
I have been listening to Machine Head ever since they released their debut album burn my eyes way back in 1994 and quite frankly they have never disappointed so as soon as the opening couple of minutes of, 'Clenching the fists of Dissent' burst into life you know that you are in for one hell of a ride!!

'Beautiful Mourning' and Aesthetics of Hate' kick in with such ferocity that it leaves you gasping for breath. 'Now I Lay Thee Down' mellows things down for a bit only for 'Slanderous' [which personally i think is one of the albums finest tracks] to bring you back up again.

The guitar solo's on next track 'Halo' are quite simply amazing and sees Rob Flynn and Phil Demmel in fine form.

Next on the 'The Blackening' comes the stunning song 'Wolves' and it truely makes you feel as if you have been hit round the head with a sledgehammer!!! Theres only one word to describe last song, 'A Farewell To Arms' and thats EPIC!!!

Even if you aren't a Machine Head fan and you love your music then this album is surely one you have got to have in your collection. This has got to be Rob Flynn's, Phil Demmel's, Dave McClain's and Adam Duce's finest hour. They surely deserve all the success that they get and must have from this album [hell, its about time!!].

'The Blackening' is better than Burn My Eyes [there, i have said it] and Machine Head have quite simply created an absolute stunning masterpiece so sit back and enjoy!!!!
