5.0 out of 5 stars Get a squeeze on!!, 26 Aug. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Had an issue with the standard straight levers on my VT750C Shadow Custom -- seemed like no-one did a direct replacement, but a little internet research revealed they're actually identical to the ones from the VTX1300.

So I ordered these: the levers arrived promptly, looked good and took only around 30 mins to change over. A little experimentation soon sorted the ideal adjustment numbers, plus the dogleg pattern offers much better grip.

What an improvement! Now I can more easily control the clutch, and in particular really get a good squeeze on the front brake -- a big advantage, as the VT750C has only a weedy single disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sorted my CBF a treat!, 18 April 2015

This review is from: Grip Puppies Comfort Over Grip
Purchased a set of these for my Honda CBF1000 which has small diameter grips, and suffers from a small amount of high-frequency vibration through the bars. After speaking to my local bike dealer, I mixed a DILUTE solution of soapy water in a bowl and soaked them before fitting (which was then relatively easy). Do NOT use a strong solution -- as another reviewer has commented, this will never dry out properly. Instead, I found the trick is to alternately push and pull a little at a time until they are almost in place. (If for any reason this doesn't work, don't try brute force -- just buy some grip glue!)
I then used a sharp craft knife to trim them around switches, pushing the last bit up around these, afterwards removed the surplus from the bar ends.
Finally, I switched on the heated grips (which work fine) to dry out the water -- and, hey presto, no movement at all!!
One thing: these over-grips do increase the grip diameter markedly; no bad thing on many bikes, but, even with larger hands, you may well find you need to adjust the front brake lever position to compensate (no problem on the CBF).
But I'm very pleased with the results: the nasty tingle that was evident at motorway speeds has been almost eliminated.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent case., 5 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased for recent trip to Ireland ... of reasonable quality and nicely finished. Lack of outside pockets might prove a hindrance, though the case itself seems well-designed. Useful in airports to be able to either pull the case behind you on two wheels, or to push along beside you on (all) four. Perhaps a bit pricey . . . . . but would definitely recommend for regular air travellers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not at all bad . . ., 28 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Generally very well made, with thick hide and decent stitching. These seem to fit pretty well by simply matching my ordinary jeans size (so personally I wouldn't go up a size as some people on here recommend). With ankle zips and Velcro, these are better for fitting inside proper bike boots than other type of ordinary leather jeans sold by Skintan (those are plain-ended, and so better for fitting over ankle/paddock boots); the armour also feels pretty good. Pockets are not up to much (too small to hold a wallet); when riding it's generally better to keep stuff in your jacket.
Worst features must be the weak, single pop stud on the waist (I found the hold can be improved a little by squeezing the outer part very gently with pliers and then filing smooth again) and the silly integral "belt". Expect I'll eventually have both replaced with some quality items at a leather workshop or similar. But still good value at the price . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Problem solved!, 24 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Had a big problem with my damaged hearing on returning to biking after twenty years away. Ordered "LugGaurds" after having nothing but trouble with disposable foam plugs (they slowly expand out of my ears, losing effectiveness, and easily drop out into road whenever helmet is removed!).
No real problems with doing the moulding; once you know how much to use, the best way would be to measure out four identical quantities (using two lots of each colour) and then then do one side at a time. I didn't do this, so I've ended up with one large set (which I'll use for long rides) and a smaller pair more suitable for short journeys. Plus I have one left plug spare ... so a second batch should even them up nicely.
Not tried them out on the bike yet, but they feel fine, and any plug that stays in my ear must be much better than the foam type which doesn't.
They're also cheaper than alternative brands, and you supposedly get more material, too ......................

UPDATE: I've had two boxes now, and ordered another for spares. A little experimentation with material quantity and the moulding process allows you to make plugs with just the right noise-reduction properties. Less for around town, more for motorway blasts. Comfortable, washable, and most importantly, THEY WORK (I can hear again, even after long, fast rides!).

4.0 out of 5 stars Smart little mower, 25 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this as companion machine for my new 4-stroke petrol Flymo (see my review of this on Amazon): have both assembled and working so can give a full assessment.
My neighbour recommended McCulloch to me, he has a smaller model which seems to work well. I went for this, larger, more expensive, one partly for the extra cut width, but mostly because it offers variable-speed power drive and has a genuine Honda engine rather than a Briggs and Stratton (or a motor made in Indonesia etc).
Not disappointed by either of these features: motor starts easily and has plenty of power; power drive is easy to control. As someone not used to a grass box (I had a mulching mower before) it seems to fill up fast, but that's no problem once you remember to empty regularly. Blade cuts well, and the power drive is a big help, even if the smallish, solid wheels lack grip on wet grass. Single point height adjustment saves time and effort.
One thing: if you buy this from off the internet, please do check all the nuts and bolts -- one side of mine was fine, but the other two main carriage bolts which hold the wheel assembly to the deck were very loose and would undoubtedly have caused an accident if I had failed to check and tighten.
The grass box is also fiddly to put together; once you have it assembled, screw the 4 supplied self-tappers through both sides of plastic frame and captive rubber seal without leaving sharp points inside.
Manual entirely useless (as is normal nowadays), so you have to do some thinking when the machine arrives ...and the motor comes dry (which they do tell you on a label) and so needs filling with a good quality 10/30 oil before you start it.

3.0 out of 5 stars It all depends . . . . . ., 21 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
When I looked to purchase one of these Husqvarna-made Flymos, the reviews seemed confusing. There were a number of good reports, as well as those that hated it. Well, my much-used-and-abused, 13-year old wheeled Husqvarna "mulcher" had finally given up the ghost, the grass kept on growing, and a little research revealed it wouldn't be much cheaper to replace its (Briggs and Stratton) engine than to get another mower, so I'd have to get something, and fancied a change.
Assembly was not TOO difficult; the only hard bit is working out WHICH way to thread the handle through (tip, it's the other way to what seems intuitive). Get this wrong, and you'll be struggling to free it for another go. Took me around an hour to sort it out and carefully fill the motor to the required level with 10/40 (mower) oil from Halfords.
The excellent Honda motor starts fine (once I've worked out which way is "petrol on"). Warm it up, choke off and off we go ... no issues with hover power, glides over my long grass without fuss and cuts quite well if a little messily -- you'll definitely want a broom to clean up after.
Doesn't mind long wet grass -- compared to the old wheeled mulcher, there's no clumping and jamming. And far easier to clean under the smooth shallow plastic deck, though do make sure to turn it right way or you'll fill the air filter with petrol (I did this!).
Excellent under bushes/hedges, good around shrubs and manholes. The deck glides in any direction, gentle slopes are no obstacle to progress, and mine appears to cut equally smoothly whether pushed or pulled.
But here's the rub: despite its weight, the machine hovers SO well that the machine simply can't be guided straight across any kind of slope no matter how gentle -- the machine constantly slides away downhill, leaving a wavy wake like the Dublin Swift on rough day!
So you have to go up and down; which may suit the layout of you lawn; or not, as the case may be -- we, for instance, have a conifer hedge along our downhill boundary and so require a substantial "land" cutting to turn around.
And we have TWO lawns, divided by a driveway ... so fold the handle, turn and lift. I said LIFT! And here's my second gripe; jeez is this thing HEAVY!!
Cutting the first lawn made my back sore; doing both and carrying between them made it hurt like hell. Buy the wheel kit? Well, it's expensive, looks complicated and of poor quality. And if I'd wanted a WHEELED mower why did I buy a Flymo?
Conclusion: HALF the job, it does well. As for the rest, I've now ordered a McCulloch (also made by Husqvarna), with power drive to the rear wheels; could have managed with that and a decent strimmer, and saved myself a lot of dosh ...............
If you have a complex layout with lots of shrubs, other obstacles and slopes (and don't like strimmers), the four-stroke Flymo may be just what you're looking for. And if you have a perfectly flat, rectangular lawn, it might also perform quite well ....
For everyone else, it's a conceit, an expensive way of doing quickly what a strimmer will do (a little more slowly) for a good deal less.
Would I buy another? That all depends . . .

Cut out more noise than any previously tried. These ear defenders ARE adjustable for height, but do take a bit of fiddling around with the wires to get absolutely right. A good fit makes them highly effective, but also rather hot to wear for long periods. It's a trade-off!

Trouble with these is that they don't stay in your ears . . . do yourself a favour and get moulded ones instead (LugGaurds, for example, are ideal -- see my review on their product page).
