4.0 out of 5 stars Absorbing entertainment, 1 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My son (10) has enjoyed these but prefers doing them with adult company. It makes a change from the endless round of Wii, computer games and DS activity! Would definitely recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, 1 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My son (10) has had fun with these. Some are quite 'classic' optical illusions, others are more original. A few are a bit tame but with 50 to choose from there's plenty of entertainment value here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect starter kit., 1 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I ran this past my son's guitar teacher before purchasing and he thought it was ideal for a complete beginner and so it has turned out to be. Probably the right price bracket if your child is starting out but you don't know how likely they are to stick at it. My only suggestion is that you might be better off getting a complete package that also includes case and stand but there are plenty of those available in a variety of price ranges.

Harry Houdini for Kids: His Life and Adventures with 21 Magic Tricks and Illusions
Harry Houdini for Kids: His Life and Adventures with 21 Magic Tricks and Illusions
by Laurie Carlson
Edition: Paperback
Price: 15.24

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for children and adults alike!, 1 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My son (10) has always been keen on magic and when he got a set for Christmas which included handcuffs he got interested in Houdini. I searched under 'Houdini Kids' and this one came up and has turned out to be perfect. It's American, so some language barriers there, and although the vocabulary is sophisticated, the story is told in a clear and fascinating way. There's lots of background information which really brings that era to life. We've greatly enjoyed reading it together and have learnt a lot. Would recommend without hesitation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice for the price!, 1 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I ended up returning this item because when it hadn't arrived after a month, Amazon refunded the cost so when it did turn up a few days later I sent it back. I would say, if you've got the previous Sony E-reader (PRS-300), then just use the case that came with it, but if you've got the new version (PRS-350) which doesn't come with a case, then this one is ideal. Offers nice cushioning and good allround protection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks good but don't bother with the 'gift' subscription, 1 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this for my husband as a Christmas present but when I activated the subscription, which you end up doing direct with BBC magazines, they sent me an e-maild confirming the cost as 5 cheaper than I paid on Amazon! All I got for the so-called gift was a small box which got mangled in the post with a leaflet inside with the gift activation number. My husband has only received one issue so far and not had time to read it but it does look really good. So, to sum up: a great magazine but shop around for the best deal and don't bother with a 'gift' subscription which will probably cost you more for no additional benefit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the (Fossil) tin, 18 Sep 2010

Good photos and history about the Fossil brand, it's tins, designers etc. You wouldn't buy this unless you were already interested so it's great for a collector.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very easy to use., 16 Jan 2010
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My 9 year old son and his friend spent hours playing with this on boxing day with no adult help needed! The parts fit together easily with a 'popper' arrangement. My only criticism is that there could be more information about the actual science behind the circuits you make up - my son can make the different experiments but I doubt if he has learned that much about the components and their role in each process. Also, it's quite expensive for what it is but what isn't?!

GelGems Bag-Large-Scaredy Cats
GelGems Bag-Large-Scaredy Cats

4.0 out of 5 stars Loving GelGems!, 16 Jan 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I love GelGems and these are no exception. They just stick on your window etc. and peel off again with care. Can be washed if their 'tackiness' deteriorates. Loads of designs to choose from - especially good ones for Christmas. Warning: make sure they don't touch each other or in the sun they will melt into each other!
