5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for money why spend more!, 20 Nov. 2014

I brought this to replace my ageing Samsung Galaxy S3 and I'm very impressed. The battery easily lasts a day with my usage. The sound is better through the speakers and headphones. The screen seems just as good. It's just as fast if not faster. I now think I prefer vanilla android rather than Samsung's version. For less than £150 this phone is a bargain. It does everything I need and more. I can't see what functionality you gain by spending more on a device apart from a slightly better screen.

Product arrived quickly. I put in a wireless card installed Ubuntu Linux 14.4 up and running in less than an hour. The case is full sized so make sure you have enough space for it. Been using it for a couple of months no problems, good product.

A great fusion of traditional Buryat-Mongolian folk music and western Jazz/Rock. The result is a great varied album with unusual instruments that anyone might enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best yet from the DSO!, 17 May 2012
This review is from: Pandoras Pinata (MP3 Download)
There is a reasonable chance if you like any of Swing, Big Band, Heavy Rock, Prog Rock, Classical, Opera, Jazz or Latin music you may love this record! The Diablo Swing Orchestra (DSO) have somehow combined elements from all these musical styles into their own crazy but controlled mix. This is an album for people who are prepared to listen to music rather than let it wash over them but any effort is well rewarded.

The tracks definitely have a lot of variation within them. I often get frustrated by music that keeps changing after every few bars and think they are just showing off I often lament not hearing more of the music that has just gone. The DSO have avoided this because each new section is as good or better than the last and it fits together as a well crafted composition. Strangely they seem to have avoided becoming too obscure or avant-garde. As they are mixing many styles the music often feels familiar although they have created something that is quite unique.

I doubt if there are going to be any better produced, composed or performed albums this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eccentric but brilliant., 24 Jan. 2012
This review is from: Illuminated People (Audio CD)
Islet are a band that you can't really classify. Eccentric, eclectic, talented and Welsh might be a good place to start. One of the few bands in the UK who are trying to do something different. Listening to this album you will hear references of good old pop, psychedelic rock, classic rock, jazz, etc. It has up tempo track more melodic tracks and tracks that are both. It probably wont appeal to all but it is a grower give it a chance and you may be rewarded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Odd, Quirky and Surprisingly Good., 21 Feb. 2011
This review is from: vs Evil (Audio CD)
It difficult to describe, at times they sound a bit like Beefheart at others a bit punky or popish and then others quite melodic. All without ever taking themselves too seriously.
If you are someone who likes something a bit different and quirky give them a bash. I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classical Sound Rock Rhythms, 18 April 2008
This review is from: The Butcher's Ballroom (Audio CD)
Operatic singing, classical sounds with a heavy rock feel.
Different but well done and accessible. Lets hope they can keep it up for album 2.
